Anyways, I don't want to bust this thread. The party was awesome, It's just a little comment about the venue, wich seems too popular these days.

The part about getting paid or not is between the dj and the promoter. If both parties agree before anything is annouced, their shouldn't be any drama. Dealing with djs, I see different mentality. Some djs will ask for a small payment, just to pay for the cab and some booze. Others will ask for more money, seeing their experience and talent as not coming for free. Some djs will also play for free, out of support for the scene and the promoter. This is the dj's decision. Promoters have to respect that decision.

The thing is, throwing a party is expensive, and the risk of loosing money is pretty high. If any dj plans on charging a lot of money, than that dj better damn make sure he'll play a good enough set and bring enough people to back this up. If you're djing for money, you're not in the right business. If you're djing for the love of the music, but expect some money as a principle, then it's your right to ask for that money, but please do so before your name is written on the flyer.

A dj who wants to get paid as every right to ask. However, such things are better discussed before the party. Both dj and promoter have to live with that aggreement at the party, no matter how many ravers showed up. If the dj decides that he doesn't want the pay after a party didn't work, it's his choice, but a promoter can't force it.

It's called a contract, and it's the best way to do business. Even a verbal agreement is ok, just discuss those things. And djs, if you want to get paid, remember to ask the promoter. Good promoters will be happy to discuss this with you, and offer you a reasonnable pay.

Sa dépend du monde. Personnellement, je dis que sa dépend de la taille du party. Plus gros party = le monde sont plus sur le party et sa finit plus tard.

As for Sim Bistro, I don't mean any disrespect to people who use this venue, but honestly, the place sucks. It doesn't look like a party place at all, the booze is too expensive, and being searched at a 150 people party is kinda lame.
