I would say that you need a loft more for studio work, and an apartment closeby that costs very little, probably basically a room with a bed in it. They don't like you living in commercial lofts and our experiences with that sketchy 1619 place confirm it. Remember how that Pollack guy had all these bizarre rules and they turned out to be bullshit?

I think it would be crucial to actually have a bunch of uses for the loft and split it between enough people, without living there I might add, that it could actually be used for multiple purposes (graphic design, sewing / silkscreening, music recording, etc) and be useable for parties.

But I personally wouldn't want a bunch of sketchpads stinking up my couch every night.

That's a good question actually... I think Resistor is more or less the same, but focuses more on Psy stuff mixed with Industrial. I don't know but something tells me the people who were doing that probaly moved on. If not... well... about the same crowd but with blacklight.

Smerk isn't around as much these days, but mostly because Skeeter started working with Pin:ksox and started up Here's My Card Records. Then he started touring around, because he had become an internet sensation, with remixes of almost everything in his trademark speedbass/breakcore style.

But the important thing is that this breakcore scene flourished mainly because it consisted of crazy free parties, an ethic between metal and punk with hardcore techno influences, and a tendency to be cutting-edge and surprising to its attendees on a regular basis. Darkrave thought they found some sort of win by booking Panacea years ago, but alas, he is now a fat cunt who writes some sort of Trance-and-Bass style crap that hardly needs a mention.

Resistor was sort of cool, but hey, that venue! Fuck! Big Bop! Three floors of sketchiness!
