Guys, if the parties were totally legal, they wouldnt get busted. They cant just shut down an event because they feel like it.

what the hell is up with all the DJs playing about 45min each?
I see a lot of parties lately who put tons of dj in the same room, all playing for about or not even a hour...

si les promoteurs font leur party legalement, ils pourront pas les faire fermer.
Si le party a quelque chose d'illegal ou de shady, alors ouais, il est possible que le party se fasse fermer.
Comme ca a toujours été le cas dans les party a montreal.
Des party qui se font buster, il en a toujours eu...
Il peuvent pas fermer un party sans avoir de raison valable. Toute les rave que jai vu se faire fermer, yavait toujours quelque chose qui suivait pas la loi. Salle trop pleine, des plaintes de bruits, de lalcool en vente sans permi.
Ouais c poche, mais sa arrive des fois !

recette pour un party legit? =
-salle legale avec permi d'occupation dont la capacité est pas depassée pendant l'évenement.
-une salle loin des residences, comme ca pas de plainte possible.
-des agent de sécurité officiel avec permis.
-respecter les loi sur les fumeurs et la vente d'alcool.

well, I did throw some parties back in 2000-2001. you might remember Psylocibe @ museum of contemporary arts back in june 2000.
Never though I would do another one, but Ticon is just too good and couldnt resist to bring him to montreal again....(last time he was here was for eclipse 3 years ago)

thats how I used to work, yes, 100% gear and no computer. but after a while I realised it was more pain in the ass than anything else.
bringing a car full of gear on a hot and humid place full of stoned ravers, I cant count how many times something needed to be fixed after a show..

oh yeah and dont even try to do some "complicated" music that way, it work well with minimal, hardtechno or any kind of very repetive stuff...
but if you want to do any kind of melodic stuff, with long patterns and lots of variations, there is no way to do that on a pure hardware setup, unless you have a huge midi sequencer that send the sequence into all the machines...
but heh? thats basically what a computer do...sequencing vst and loops...

I sold everything and bought a laptop, its way easier to work with, and easier to carry..

and you have to realise that 90% of the "professionnal" live act are completely sequenced in advance, and what they do, is press play and tweak some sounds (im not talking about the minimal or techno scene here, which has still a lot of real live act going on)
