We should all learn ONE thing just for the sake of having learned it: a skill, a language, a trick. Because that thing will not be learned out of force but out of interest (unlike the school system, might I add).

That's because they're Commercial businesses. There are PLENTY of find establishment that want to protect animals. Spending hundreds of thousands on paint-throwing, blockades and naked marches will not solve anything... but all the while, it makes the organization pretty rich!

Like eveything, you need to find the real benefactors from the ones posing as such.

I will. I'm not for torturing animals... Some people need to separate jokes from truth.

The better treatment of animals is a good thing as a whole. I'm just offended by Extremist organizations like PETA, ALF and Earth First.

But your petition seems to be a legitimate cause. Funny how the three organization above do not figure as part of the coalition?

I didn't even know she was a girl.

M'okay, I may have over-acted on her personal statement. I don't like being associated with being unclean and having no dignity simply because I love leather or whatever.

There were no name-calling here before you came along. Hypocrisy was only stated if the meat=murder arguement was true. Since her arguement seems more about fur than meat, I'm ready to apologize for that. Heated banter does that to oneself.

Seriously, tone down with the insults, it makes you look stupid.

I also have the right to defend my words, dude.

Threats and death wishes are two different things.

Threat is, "I will kill you". Death wish is, "I'd love to see you hung up and skinned alive you piece of shit." Doh!

You seriously mistake me for someone who is scared of a CAPS LOCK. This is pathetic. I'm not going to mention anyone else any futher in this thread because there is nothng else to be said.

I fail to see how my profile makes me a dickhead. There's nothing even remotely offensive on it.

Sort your life out. Please.

So yes to human torture, no to animal torture?

When PETA's Vice-President uses Insulin (which is animal tested), she's not helping animal torture?

And when they kill the animals they receive and put them in large freezers ("because it's the most humane thing to do to them, in certain cases" as they state), it's not animal murder?

For people looking immature and stupid, I'd like to point in your direction. All I'm trying to point are three things:

1) If Meat is murder, so is the killing of plants.
2) Peta tortures or allow torture of animals if it fits their BUSINESS. Because that is what they are.
3) Calling someone immature while name-calling and death-wishing... not very smart.

Being hypocrite IS not caring about one type of suffering while speaking against another type of suffering. Once again, you make no sense. You SHOULD feel uncomfortable about ANY type of suffering, or else you ARE hypocrite. How hard is it to understand?

I'm not telling you not to be vegetarian. I'm telling you that your arguement against meat eaters / wearers is full of shit.

Your entire "excruciating pain" bit is exactly you accusing people. If I follow what you wrote, if I enjoy leather jackets, for instance, then I am unclean; one without dignity who enjoys the fact that animals have died in pain to give me the jacket in question.

If that isn't an accusation, or at the very least, a profoundly extreme judgement....

Although, that wasn't my point. I was replying to this part: "I'm vegetarian cause I can't stand the thought of eating something that died in excruciating pain". I responded that the vegetables you eat also suffer. And guess what? They're also farmed for the specific purpose of being eaten! But THAT is all right? I don't mean to go to the ridicule level of suggesting you to live on vitamins and minerals alone but what I AM infering is that you cannot use seffering as arguement to vegetarianism. All living beings suffer and die in order for you to survive.

You can be vegetarian because you prefer hurting plants rather than animals. I mean, they make for less cuddly pets. We all have our degree of cruelty. But to state that one is while another isn't? THAT is hypocrisy.

That's PRECISELY why I eat and wear animals! Isn't your viking/barbarian/hunter blood thumping?

Seriously? Hypocrite. Your veggies scream all the way to your bowl. You just can't HEAR them. You're still a murderer.

We all are. That is how we survive.

How can you possibly expect humans to suddenly stop this trend considering vegetarianism in humans has only become a popular trend in the past 50 years.. ? be realistic.

I agree with most of what DJneoform says, except for that. Pythagoreans were the first "vegetarian" and the term was associated with vegetarianism until the 1800s.

Hint: Pythagoras = Ancien Greece.
