But that's the thing: no one cares about him being gay. It's more of a "hey, my omelette tastes like eggs!" I mean, it was so painfully obvious... The only reason he did it was to boost his boyfriend's book sale AND help Justin's album sale.

It's simple PR.

Well, yes. We did too at Ubi and Do at Gameloft, though I guess with us, since it's homebrew, it doesn't matter if we tell about the game once it's out. I forget that other places might not share the same point of view.

Though I'm not sure the guy actually worked on that game. I think he was more of a cellphone guy. Hell, I don't know; I was getting too drunk by then to properly understand what the hell was going on.

And you know, the more I think of it, the more I realize that I do know a lot of people from a lot of companies. Sad thing is, I don't remember anyone's names... I was about to write about having good contacts but well... I guess not, hahah.

Update » Haha wrote on Thu Aug 3, 2006 @ 12:56am
Also I think there is a good reason why there are a lot of testers in raves and ravesites. Most of us listen to a form of techno music, thanks to the games we played since being kids. So it's normal: it's the kind of music we've most heard through the years.
Update » Haha wrote on Thu Aug 3, 2006 @ 8:58am
Actually, now that there are two Babel guys here, maybe one of you know who I'm talking about? Like I said, I forgot his name. Bald man, goatee, not very tall. Wore round glasses and had a weird lisp. Spoke French, mostly. Man, there were like ten testers from different companies there that night...

Yes well. I guess ANYTHING is a good reason to get naked.

But did we really need to see a Jeffrey Combs / Ashley Laurence / Ken Foree semi-naked scene?

Charles Band... the guy is awful but the movies are almost all cult classics. He underpays all of his actors and films mostly in Romania to save budget, yet still...

The Puppet Masters series is certainly the best, in my opinion, though a friend of mine prefers his Trancers series. Whichever it is, they both have good and bad sequels.

Other than that, I'd advise you to watch Intruder, a cheap movie about a serial killer in a grocery store, with cameos by Bruce Campbell, and Sam and Ted Raimi. Pretty interesting. Also, any Charles Band movie with Jeffrey Combs in it. From Beyond is a good choice: not only is Jeffrey amazing in it, it also stars Ken Foree, the main protagonist of the original Dawn of the Dead! The story is so-so until the second half, where people start getting naked for no good reason...

Stuart Gordon is also a good choice for movies. Most of the stuff he directed is realted to Lovecraft. Dagon and Re-Animator, in my opinion, are the best of the bunch. Can't wait for House of Reanimator in 2008!

Yeah, I don't know why I thought of The Machinist as Insomnia... wait. ;) But yes, bad mistake on my part. I meant to say, Christian Bale was awesome in the Machinist... though he surely took ten years of his life expectancy just losing all that weight...

I don't know why so many people are hyped up about The Prestige. The soon coming "The Illusionist" seems like a much better movie...

Christian Bale was awesome in Insomnia.

And I think he played the best Batman yet. The only one of the bunch to actually play correctly Bruce as a disguise and Batman as the real guy.

Betty, are you a fan of Charles Band movies?

Well, V for Vendetta WAS visually pretty looking. Seriously, though, what did you expect of the Wachowski brothers? They rip off everything Alan Moore has ever done, so it's normal that they eventually had to make a movie about one of his series. The only good movie they ever made was the first Matrix and even that was a Dark City ripoff.

Alan Moor doesn't want to have anything to do with ANY movie adaptation of any of his work. I can't say I blame him.

Number one company? hahahahahah.... You mean, the way the Brits persecute the francos at Babel? Riiight.

So far, after having tried most QA companies in Montreal, I'd say, Gameloft is the best experience. That's where I'm working as of now.

Though I have to say, good job on Reservoir Dogs. I'm just easily irritated by bias employers. I've seen it happen to a friend of mine and from other Babel employees I've spoken to, it seems like a common occurance.

The "next 10" pictures on the events' photos isn't workign properly. It showed me only 20 pictures out of 400+.

The "who's stalkin me" section only shows profiles I have visited and not the opposite" (meaning, I'm getting pages of the people I AM stalking :P). Clicking on their names doesn't send me to their profiles but to the main page (though clicking on their non-visible picture does)

Can't upload pics...

It reminds me when Tarantino presented Hero and everyone thought he had directed it. I mean, what the hell?
Killing Zoe was an A Band Apart flick, which means that Tarantino HAD a touch or two in the process but it can't be said he directed it.
It's easy to mistake some of the movies made in the mid-nineties since many directors tried to emulate his style.

My great-grandfather was a German soldier in the first World War, which he deserted. He came here with quite a load of money, established himself in Longueuil under a French name. I'm trying to get that information down but it's difficult, since my grandmother, who died from lung cancer eight years ago, was the last one to know his story and I was way too young to remember everything properly.

If I remember correctly, he was a Schroder. He supposedly started a minor league baseball team in Longueuil, was an alderman (échevin) at one time.

I've given up on knowing more than that. I mean: 1) he changed his name and 2) He was German and it's terribly difficult to find pre-WWII information on German births and deaths...

On my father's side, it's the usual mix of Native blood. Cree and Inuit. So I have no luck on that side either.

I would love to have a famous pirate or general or whatever else in my bloodline... but in the end, what does it change? It certainly doesn't change who I am.
