True Story:

I get a knock at my door tonight... circa 6 PM... my neighbour is like "Hi, I am your neighbour." (i've never met him before) "Um, this is a bit rude, but..." (and then he proceeds to show me a loonie)... "I ran out of toilet paper, do you have an extra roll I can buy"...

so I'm like "Ya sure, here.." and I give him a roll of toilet paper from my personal stock.. When I attempt to refuse the dollar, and say "No, really, it's fine"... he DROPS the loonie on the floor in my hallway and says "take it. thanks" and then leaves.

true story.

anyways, ya. alex's comment about toilet paper just made me remember that.

PHEEK is also a member of QC's Thinner All-Stars... of the Thinner collective...
[ www.thinnerism.com. ] this is an earlier bio of his from their site.

PHEEK (bio2)
Born in montreal in 1972, Jean-Patrice Remillard was due to love music. First brought to disco by his babysitter, he would dance around for hours, playing the same records until his parents would turn nuts. In the early 80's, his interest for music was directed to New Wave and then electro hip hop as he would attend regular breakdancing classes. His only frustration was the lack of repetitiveness in the music along with way too much vocals. He had to wait until Acid House where he got what he dreamed of. In the early 90's, he began interested in techno and started DJing in underground events. After many years, his meeting with strong influences such as Gez Varley, Porter Ricks and Ritchie Hawtin, made him realise he had to perform and create beats instead of playing other's. Moreso, his attraction to minimalism reflected inner beliefs in electronic music and a philosophy that could only be approached with this style.

In 1989, he starting to buy gear as his interest was growing bigger. It took the meeting of Mateo Murphy to build a strong duo that would make them the busiest electronic in Montreal for a year, earning a mention of "Best electronic act" in the local newspaper (Mirror, 2000). They played during MediaLounge along with Chain Reaction's Vainqueur where they got signed for the first 12" release on Hautec. They would then make an uplifting apparition at Mutek.

Early 2000 was also marked by Pheek's meeting with Mitchell Akiyama. They formed a duo they named "Dakca" (inventing a name people would have problem spelling, and it worked as it never appeared correctly on any flyer), which would be inspired in pure improvisation to make a mixture of IDM, Breaks and ambient. A solid performance of 8 straight hours in a rave got them a place at Mutek, to open for Pole and Kit Clayton. All that attention brought many offers: an album on local label Hybrid Structure, a release on Districk of Montreal and then, to start a label with teamate Akiyama that would be named "Intr_version." In fall, Pheek got a song on Intr_version first compilation that was reviewed by local paper (Exclaim!) as "A solid track, intelligent" and his release on Districk was seen as one of the highlights along with Misstress Barbara. His first album was then seen as teaser to what would come...

Epsilonlab, an artists collective, approached Pheek for a series of performances that helped him get a second mention as "Best electronic act" (Mirror, 2001).

[PHEEK]

The Pheek project is the brain child of Jean-Patrice Rémillard, a long
time music lover. Drawn by the possibilities found in live performance,
Jean-Patrice dedicates himself to it. Up to then, he had been an
occasional fixture at various raves since 1992, but in 1998 he found his
direction after a set by Richie Hawtin at the Medialounge. The Pheek
project was born soon after, with the purchase of machines which helped
fuel his passion for sound.

Initially working with Mateo Murphy, the two friends played regularly at
various events in Montreal, including the Medialounge, Electra, Club
Unity, Mutek, as well as quite a few raves. They were also responsible
for the first release on the Hautec label, and Pheek's rapid evolution
attracted the attention of Hybrid Structure, with whom he released his
first album, "Pheekology 101." The album was based on the utilisation of
everyday sounds, and was recorded live at a rave, an event which is
still remembered and talked about to this day.

Afterwards came an important turning point, his meeting with Éloi
Brunelle, who asked him to participate in the first Epsilon Lab event.
"DO what you feel like", Eloi told him, which were important words to
hear for an artist who didn't know how to place his music [is difficult
to categorise, and for whom finding a niche is become more and more
difficult]. This alliance would prove to be very beneficial for Pheek,
who would later release his album "Paysages Matriciels" with the
collective: A release which would earn him a nomination at the ADISQ in
the Electronic Music category, as well as numerous positive reviews.

This graphic showes the dynamicity in the "electron cloud" that is harnessed by a disked configuration allowing modulation of pseudo high spin states controlled near the hub by a pseudo nucleus. In the Hanebau Flying Saucer or "Tachyonator" of the Germans, the electron-rich environment at the edge of the disk was achieved by using mercury circulating at the edge of the disk. These electrons are, in a flux capacitor, harnessed as "High Density Charged Clusters", giving the name "High Density Charged Cluster Device". Interactions of the spatial distortions at the pseudo nucleus engage the electrons to give effects according to the nature of the application. For motion, the phenomenon of Cooper Pair formation is the key to high speed motion, emulation of a photon. Pi is the maximum number of multiples one can accelerate as a pseudo or other photon. These accelerations are toward absolute vacuum or toward the eleventh dimension. We are within and "decoupled" from the eighth dimension (a reference to an eleven-dimensional schema). When a flux capacitor is turned on, it is in the eighth dimension.
