do you know what the word "vomit" means ??

did you know it's another word for PUKE, vomire, degeullez.... basically, it mean's "SHIT" or "crap". isn't "digital Vomit" the name of a label, anyways ? or is it a concept?

and yeah, i've got an attitude of my own, it's called "retaliation".

bahh, anyways, it's a waste. you'll just keep quoting my same reply to keep trying to prove yourself.

Cutterhead : if you thought that for 1 second, i was referring to "free distribution labels" or "artists under a free collective" in what i wrote in another thread that's your problem but i was talking about people who "download music that is on the market", and on the market mean's "non-free" in my english.

stop flippin and just ask to clear things up before having a cow over every little micro-word people use to explain themselves..

and it crack's me up when you replied "about fucken time" when my message was the same from the start..

cutterhead, i'm glad you are boycotting my parties man as i really don't want ignorant people like yourself around me.

why do you keep trying to prove your points ?? IM AGREEING WITH YOU and yet you still keep thinking i am against it. learn to read english or start typing in french but damn, you need help spreading your messages properly.

and stop trashing people's attitude man, as your's is the one that is aggresive and off-tone (ohh no, call the spelling police). Everyone else's tone is raised because there probably fed-up with your ignorance and attacks.

let me re-cap my point of view (yes, discussion board) :

- free labels with free distribution = okay for torrents

- NON-free labels, like you know, those who PAY there artists, and DON'T encourage free distribution = not okay for torrents.

isn't that was your trying to say too??

Criticism

In 2005 David Berry and Giles Moss wrote that "questions remain about the Creative Commons project’s aims and intentions and the vision of free culture that it offers. These questions become all the more significant as the Creative Commons develops into a more influential and voluble “representative” and public face for libre culture."[10] Commentators have questioned the role that Creative Commons plays as an unconcerned corporate filter: "When one examines closely just exactly what sort of 'freedom' is ultimately to be had within these licenses, one is quick to discover that they are primarily set up as tools meant to feed directly into corporate co-option."[11] Matteo Pasquinelli (2008) describes two fronts of criticism: "those who claim the institution of a real commonality against Creative Commons restrictions (non-commercial, share-alike, etc.) and those who point out Creative Commons complicity with global capitalism". Pasquinelli specifically criticises Creative Commons for not establishing "productive commons".[12]

Critics have also argued that Creative Commons worsens license proliferation, by providing multiple licenses that are incompatible. Most notably 'attribution-sharealike' and 'attribution-noncommercial-sharealike' are incompatible, meaning that works under these licenses cannot be combined in a derivative work without obtaining permission from the license-holder.[13][14] Dvorak argues that Creative Commons licenses are "not needed" and take away "user rights". Pro-copyright commentators from within the content industry argue either that Creative Commons is not useful, or that it undermines copyright.[15]

and what do you know where debating the same here, they are two side here. you saying that giving out / sharing is a prob. the next step in marketing is that ppl too restricted wont even care, so youll either give out a demo for them to preview or a 15 sec to listen to.

but then you contradict yourself if you act as such since the preview too should be cashed ,
even worse it butcher the artist work on the account of money.

maybe you compose a lot , a to you samples are copyrightable, but they cant. if they would
everything would be, on top you would be preventing other ppl who had the idea a the same time.

you have to give out a finished product. and then you deceide either your just marketing cds
out of your house or want to get to the public and do apearances.

how can you go out and get a puiblic if they have to pay before they buy, they wont get fooled.

the 80s had tapes, metallica can say whatever they want on copy, its what put them on the map.
havin not being able to get tapes from bootleg they wouldnt have being known, not all stores wanted
their disk so how could you get to em. ? how did they exported ?

BOOTLEG

one kid somewhere then decided they, ppl around here likes , lets call their fan club, have em around, get originals , and gess what. ppl bought them, and went to the shows.

im surprise someone with experience like you doesnt knows that clown

seriously, it feels like your having a discussion with yourself as i didn't even say anything about my opinion's on these types of labels. i was just saying the name (digital vomit) is funny and seemed like a joke. i know of a few label's (Cosmic Anal Moksha, Psychedelichai + yom kipper) that work like this and it's great because both the label and the artist give there consent for free distribution, to get more exposure.

that doesn't make copying a CD from a label that actually paid the artists and putting it on a torrent site okay.

i really don't get what you are trying to prouve with your 10 page reply though. It must be my psy-gayness or something.

umm, i think it's a joke put together with intent to bash label's that take this road.

When i wanted to do simular with my label, i got flak from a few artists whom thought that "there work is worth more than free".

it's great for getting music to the people but it can depreshiate value of other artists who put hours and hours into there work.

i guess it would be simular to a bunch of painters just giving away there paintings on the street.

en plus, ont dirrais quils ce vende sur le net a 500$ NEUF pour les deux, donc ce gars essaie de faire un peut d'argent sur ton dos.

voici ce que des gens ont dit de negatiff (j'evite le positiff) :
"
POORLY SPECIFIED. Stated SN>50db not qualified, and abysmally low. No self respecting preamp design would list less than 70-80db S/N re: 2.5 to 10mV input w/o A weighting. Normal peramp specs absent: input max mV, RIAA accuracy, cartridge load in R and C, preamp gain at 1kHz, preamp distortion, preamp output V. Digital output specs very thin or absent. Wow & flutter specs minimal. Lots of digital feedthrough at 333kHz and 20MHz into line output. Quality control questionable, although customer service states they've had very few problems with this unit"

"Phono output hums, line-level output hisses. Skimpy platter doesn't do much for the specs, which are a little below par."

"Key Adjust feature is worthless, exudes a double beat effect when activated. Denon needs to either make it work flawlessly or not include it at all on the DP-DJ151. If this turntable were of the same build quality as the SL-1200, it undeniably would be a better turntable."

Cutterhead: it's all about what you intend to do with what you want / need to buy. As a listener, artist's can't expect every listener to buy all there music just the same way microsoft can't expect every private user to buy licences (i have 1 license, for the record, that came with my laptop).

Now, if we get back to THIS topic, which was created by someone who, wants to start DJ'ing, obviously people will say that you have to purchase the music you SPIN regardless of if your a bedroom Dj or not because, well, one day, a bedroom dj's grows up and isn't a bedroom dj anymore. i doubt that, in the three month's prior to your first real gig, that you'd have time to run out and buy all those great tracks you downloaded in the past.

however, i highly doubt that one day i'll decide to start writing code and throw myself into the IT / software business.

does that make more sense ?

okay then so its only an "if i would" statement.

you cant come clear out of that statement either way. you steel software , might as well steel music. you friends mixer and laptop..

it's about time you start reading man. the only part where i was actually referring to my own personal habits was with my statement that "i buy all my music".. the rest was "if i would" or "if i was".

i don't use software to make money for the 1000 time, hell, i don't even produce music that's worth selling. i have 1 release on beatport that i offered as a "bonus" track to one of my label's compilations.

really man, if you can't see how far you stepped out of line, not even mentionning how you publicly stated that i'm pretensious, then maybe we really should stop this discussion.

and BTW : what does my party have to do with anything ??? i'd like to mention that ALL staff, dj's, Vj's, deco artists + + + ALL get PAID for there services at my events, and they get paid more than what they are used to. just ask any Dj who's played at a Rewire party. So i think i have enough respect towards artists and Dj's while performing for a crowd for commercial use.

yeah, maybe i ate an olive at the super market without paying for it.. shoot me !!!

pretensious tone ?? bahh, anyways..

whatever man, i couldn't give a flying fuck about software or there designers as i'm NOT IN THAT BUSINESS !! call it hypocritical, but i'm not a school or an enterprise (you know, the actual CLIENTS that would purchase software for COMMERCIAL USE) so i don't have to support it. i, however, didn't say it was "cool" or "right" to use that software, i wrote "i DOUBT ANYONE (not me)" buy's WinXP.

the argument was about buying MP3's VS downloading them from torret sites WITH THE INTENTION TO USE THEM FOR COMMERCIAL USE

AND

Buying or using cracked MUSIC SOFTWARE to produce music FOR COMMERCIAL USE.

i said i was against both idea's, being INVOLVED IN THE MUSIC COMMUNITY !!!

no ?? if you want to start another discussion related to non-music software pirating, please start a new thread.

i have 4 legaly bought licences of windows xp.

being a tech i can tell no one buys them because they all think like you,

i have found a community wich i participate and develop software, promote their stuff to go
around the we all deserve microsoft and welfare issue.

i found artists that think sharing their music is a good promotion for them, and still gets the old format out for thoses who would like to take home, plus theirs stuff rocks,.

im removing myself from attending to a particular party... i think ill continue to search knowledge in the galaxi and not expect everything to fall freely on my lap like a fat fuck on does nothing week but look for weeds.
.

because they all think like ME ?? don't tell me someone else didn't learn how to read !!!

i don't use window's to make money + i'd don't agree with supporting a multi-national enterprise that can't even put together stable software.

I'm a DJ. i owe my respects to the people making music. I buy 100% of all music that i play with the exceptions of promo tracks that labels or artists send me. not many people think like me MR. Cutterhead. i have box's of empty, original CD casese that i had to leave at my parents house for lack of space in my condo. i don't think i'll ever be able to get back that money from bookings but i don't care because all that really is important is for the artists to keep making music and for that some of them need support. i don't care if microsoft goes under and stops making Window's Vista 2012 !!

what's your point for saying that Cutterhead? or maybe you didn't understand what i wrote the firsttime ?
