the setup this year will be VERY different than last year.

Both me and Nathan tried our most hardest to get a new venue for the event. We came close twice but then ended up declining our "Rave offer" in the end. In order to move forward with the event, we had no choice but to use Existenz this year. either way, it's not the place but who's in the place that makes the party !! :)

i agree with Ian on this matter. things are getting worse and we will not surface anytime soon. The interest rate isn't 1% btw, it's the rate the gouvernement is lending to the bank's at so your interest rate will be significatly higher (depending on your product that is).

Money is the #1 cause of coruption in this world. if your ambition is to make money with somethine, hence market a product, i'm sorry to say but you will eventually sell out (to make money)..

start by making the music (or loving the music) and IF you make money doing what you love than great.. but it shouldn't be the motivation to MAKE the music. that's all i'm saying.

Vegannibal : If lets say, tomorrow, a big producer comes to your place and wants to sign you to there record label, offers you 35,000$ to make 12 tracks with them but tells you that the stuff you currently play is garbage and throws a "note pad" on your sofa and says "pratice these songs" and show up on monday at the studio.. what do you do ??

now, a normal humain who wants MONEY would take this chance (selling out to themselves).. if you say NO, then do you really want to be making music for a living ??

BTW: for the record, i don't "work" for techno.fm as i am not paid for what i bring them. It's more of a passion and an obsession (like Na said) that keeps me stuck like glue to stuff like this.

what are your weekly gigs ?? how much do you get paid for them ?? is Dj'ing your ONLY source of income ? (please, don't mention the past, lets talk about the future) !!

you can't get more than, 100$'s for a weekly at Saphire's and i don't think dj's can get more than 50 - 100$ for anything breaks / electro related (okay, maybe a whopping 200$ if your lucky enough to find a place that works really well).. last i checked your bookings, you don't play at Club Opera every friday and saturday nor are you a local at any after-hour club (where a dj can potentially get paid well on a weekly basis) ..

please let us know.. (btw, the jazz fest isn't underground, nor is piknik) !!

in other news, lets take some real examples of artists with success who have sold out to make money.

Metalica is the first that comes to mind, Infected Mushroom is another. When these guys saw an opening, there music changed and became much more simple and less of "What got them there". (don't say that's called evolution please cause that's BS).. Today, they have enough money to "return to the source" (thank god) but not everyone get's that chance.

When you reach the point of making music for a living, it usually mean's your not underground anymore. It's usually a sacrifice to the "soul" to provide the mass with "food".

When people write stuff like "i'm a professional DJ and pay my rent with Dj Money" it's either they are wedding dj's or they play more accessible music. When the end of the day arrives and they have to pay the rent, taking a booking for "just the money" is what is left to do. if not, how could they ? I mean, the artists who aren't mainstream have a hard time surviving, imagine the living juke-box playing their tracks!!!

Music should be a hobby, not a job. !!!

Hey Axel, there aren't many club night's that meet your "musical tastes" around montreal, unfortunatly. there are a few raves that showcase some hardtechno.. check for Dj's like TOLTECH + OCTAVIO LUZ on line-ups !! :)
