in the mayan long count calendar, it is the end of the 13th baktun. it's been predicted as a time of great changes. people say lots of things about 2012.

but this is out of topic. if you seriously want to know more about this, do your own search on google or PM me. ;)

so you believe in that 2012 thing... it's not gonna be paradise par magie à cette date-là. la route est longue et we've got to MAKE IT HAPPEN, by being together and learning to harmonize. i don't think avoiding situations where we have to learn to harmonize is the way to get somewhere.

we need positive attitudes please! :)

i don't like drama. people with drama please keep back. :p
was there a lot of drama at l'x?

a place that doesn't aim making money
a place where everyone can participate in
a place that encourages people's growth
a place where PLUR is the code to respect

i like the idea of having activities there during the day. like at a rainbow gathering everyone can teach what they know, invite people to follow workshops. i'm thinking yoga, circus, martial arts, tribal dance... and then these people participating in the workshops could be a tribe making appearances at the parties. how cool it would be to have an acrobatic or a belly-dancing show in a rave... :)

and a store where we can sell rave-related clothes, accessories, arts...
and of course a bar, with fair-trade coffee and chai and healthy home-made energy drinks. like the stuff people from entheolab make, with fruit juices and herbal extracts.

this is what i've been told we would need to convince the government for subventions:

- show the rentability of using the place for what we want to do
- show that we'll create employment

and i am thinking... remember a couple years ago the deal with the squatters in the prefontaine abandonned building? what happened to this building? is it still there? is it still a vacant waste? anyone knows?

people are too complacent?? that's a generalization, and a negative one... we won't go anywhere with negative generalizations. maybe YOU are too complacent and so that's what you see in others...

BUT I AM NOT! :p
i like the feel of this idea.
now i don't know about all the things it implies, but i think the basics of it is to have a place that would serve as a center for the rave community. and the first two things that should come is WHERE and HOW we gonna pay for it.
and i really think we need subventions.
anyways... who's interested in being active participation in this?

or in fact any other abandonned building... i would loooove to work on deco in a big place with all the equipment i would need. could we get anything from the governement for this? we'd have to prove this to be useful for the country well-being.

education about drugs, a place where people can leave stuff they don't want anymore so we can transform it into art... but drugs might be the biggest problem in convincing the government, they all know what happens in a rave. we'd have to prove raves are good for society in a way that is official and convincing.

let's take a church and make raves!
nobody goes to church anymore but the old people. they make fucking condominiums with churches, as if making profit was the true religion. a church is a really beautiful place for parties. ecstatic dancing was the way of the first tribal communities to get in touch with god. :)

absinth comes from a plant (artemisia absinthum), and i don't see why you couldn't smoke it.

there is a plant that i know of and that grows a lot around here close to roads and railroads called mugwort (artemisia vulgaris), and it's containing the same mind-altering chemical, thujone. some scientists relate thujone to thc. i have never smoked it cause i don't like inhaling smoke, but i know that you can do it and it is good for creating dream-like states of mind.

but sophia is right... anyone could sell anything to ignorant people, so be sure of what you're actually smoking. the best way would be to get it yourself and try it. i don't know in the absinthe kind of artemisia grows around here but although absinthium is the most potent one, i think every artemisia plant contains thujone and can get you high.

look for this plant:

i think raves in montreal are cool, and become better and better the more people get together and help the scene.
i also think if we say why things suck it is more constructive to approach with a solution and give our hands and energy to make it happen.

my advice is to not go to places where they treat us like shit, because by doing so we tell them that it is ok with us.
and so this thread tells us gravity treats people like shit. now you decide what you do hehe.
i know i won't go there anymore, no matter what the party is.

gravity is no more guilty of these supposed crimes than 514 was back in the day, or redlite, for 2 examples. and 514's days are pretty much over so if you wan to take that as an example of just desserts, then gravity will eventually get theirs i guess.....
as well, it seems to me that threatening a club owner who you strongly suspect of having ties to organized crime, via a public message board where your ID can be back tracked isnt the smartest course of action.

we didn't get the chance to even hide it. we were setting up and suddenly these big guys appear and give us the order to move out of the room and leave our bags and everything there. and with no witness they take the freedom to search through each of the bags and take what they want.

i think it IS a smart action to post here. us ravers should be aware of what is going on with the party money we spend. we can't keep this silent and act unaware. let's bring back the real raving spirit, stand united and party!

it may be more difficult to find another venue... but please, promoters, i encourage you to walk the extra mile. for the sake of your party and your raver friends.

do it in a place where you feel secure. do it in a place where you feel free. do it in a place where there are many things to explore. do it with people you trust.

personally i love taking acid at outdoor raves. indoor can be more of a problem because at some point you may want to leave the rave if you don't feel comfortable and it will only lead you into dirty streets where in my opinion is not the best place for tripping. but hey tripping is tripping. it's fun whatever you're doing. :)
