nope.
I watched the first 10 minutes of it yesterday (yay for the USA network and yay for people ripping it and posting it online!) and it looks pretty decent, even though I've got a few problems with it. For one, re-animation takes something like 10-20 seconds (just like 28 Days Later's infections), zombies all of a sudden seem to have a lot more strength than they had as humans, and they now don't seem to just run, but they outright sprint after people with mad amounts of speed. I have a feeling it's gonna feel like 28 Days Later 2, but with actual dead zombies instead of live humans with a virus. Then again, the first 10 minutes really impressed me, and the problems I had with it were quickly put aside. I think it takes a grand total of 4 minutes for the action to start, and they've really managed to pull off the "This is an invasion, and all humans are going down now" kind of apocalyptic scenes. |

yeah.. that was good...
its exactly like 28 days later though... except that they die and reanimate... but the ending is really nice... thinking back.. it was pretty good... go see it.. its not so much a scary movie as it is hilarious there was much laughing |

jeez. the whole point of zombies is that they're really slow so you can just run by them a la night of the living dead.
pfft. |

The point of zombies being slow and easy to outrun or kill was actually done as a social commentary to show that humans are responsible for their own downfall by bickering and fighting instead of coming together and working for a greater cause. This was shown even more with a statement on comercialism in the original Dawn of the Dead, where the survivors go to a mall because they can't survive withouth the luxuries they've grown acustomed to in this comfortable world, and how other humans, who just want "more stuff", are the ones that cause the downfall of everything the protagonists had "built up", instead of getting together to possibly work in a way to co-exist with each other.
Humans are the real monsters in the original DEAD trillogy, not the zombies. (much like the first 2 hellraisers) |

Some post 1985 zombies have been good, though. Most of them are asian though. BioZombie is amazing, it's a "party horror" movie kinda like Return of the Living Dead, which is like crossing Mallrats and Resident Evil. Hillarious and well done. Versus also, though the zombies have some inteligence and use guns/do martial arts at some points, but it's one of the better action/horror movies I've seen in years.
Beyond the ReAnimator also was amazing, and Undead, though not 100% a zombie movie, is by far one of the most entertaining and well-filmed zombie movies I've ever seen. |

It was alright as an action movie, but it could have been so much more. It wasn't horror by far, it didn't have any gore, and for fuck sake KEEP CG OUT OF ZOMBIE MOVIES! Zombie movies are suposed to be GORY and VIOLENT, and you can't do that with CG, only makeup and prosthetics and buckets of animal blood. Also, traditionaly, zombie movies, even the "big budget" ones, have been made fairly independant and have had lower budgets than big hollywood movies, so they had more freedome to do what they wanted and got away with a lot more. Paul Anderson, on the other hand, is a hollywood bitch who's only decent movie was Event Horizon. Res. Evil could have been SO much better, looks and story-wise, but he fucked it up in an atempt to make it a movie that parents could take their whiny 12 year olds to.
Even though the new trailer looks decent, I'm a little worried about Alien Vs. Predator being in his hands. |
