Apparently they really fuck with your head in rehab. A neighbour of mine used to 'chase the dragon' and admitted himself to one of these volentary clinics... aside from methedone treatment, he told me that they abused psychologically him while he was there. apparently for a full week he had to shower with no hot water,... the week after he had no cold water, the 3rd week they took away his soap and the 4th week they took away his matress and forced him to sleep on a wooden board.
He didnt go into further detail but the idea I guess was to teach him not to take certain things for granted. Once you learn to live and adapt without certain necessities like soap & hot water, I guess you aren't as dependant on the luxeries such as drugs. |

wtf, thats harsh, and fuckin insane you can't do that I know it sounds borderline sketchy but I doubt he'd make that up. He signed a form going in which pretty much took away his own rights & personal freedoms... Ironic isnt it?...how a person can only join rehab by their own choice but they can't leave until the doctors decide for them... |

Yea, my brother is in a program with a similiar concept - for 7 weeks its all hardcore wilderness camping, no hot showers or oher such modern luxuries. Frankly, I doubt it will have any lasting effect - sure you may appreciate a comfortable mattress for the first week after, but once you become re-accustomed to modern luxuries, you will take them for granted once again. I think the lesson is that you shouldn't sign into any program without first becoming aware of its nature, and what (if any) civil rights you maintain. Of course there is always the option of do-it-yourself detox: [ www.erowid.org ] |

Why would they give him methadone, thats impossible. Its few uses are mainly for getting off of Heroin not Meth. And if that were truw then he would come out of rehab a lot more addicted to Methedone. |

you must not know what methadone is, its not meth.
meth·a·done ( P ) Pronunciation Key (mth-dn) n. A potent synthetic narcotic drug, C21H27NO, that is less addictive than morphine or heroin and is used as a substitute for these drugs in addiction treatment programs. It may also be used for chronic pain management. methadone n : a synthetic narcotic drug similar to morphine but less habit-forming; used in treating heroin addiction [syn: methadone hydrochloride, methadon] |
