Good [+1]Toggle ReplyLink» OMGSTFUDIEPLZKTX replied on Thu Feb 12, 2004 @ 6:45pm |
Windows NT4/Windows 2000 source code has supposedly been leaked. Files are circulating around right now with the source code and it apears legitimate according to some people. There's even code for Solitaire.
More information as it comes... I'm trying my best to validate this information. |

Whoa.
Now THAT would be fucking nice. Someone can make an OS that runs windows apps flawlessly, but that actually works well, also! |

True, there's always the mature and inteligent alternative. Hell, what's the point of making something creative when you can be 1337 and 0wnz0r0r0r0r.c all the b0xes you want. |

if this is the real source code, trust me, people will find vulnerabilities that microsoft probally doesn't even know. And I promise you that a new barrage of deadly worms will be seen over the course of 2004.
Of course, assuming this is the authentic code. |

Thats a waste of time. My source of income depends on the internet, so there is no way I'm going to attempt to hurt it.
-- Oh, the source code is real. |

Or, if you'd read up on it, you'd know that the FULL source code is actually close to 40 gigs, and that the file going around is only 203 megs that uncompresses to 660 megs, which is still rather far from the whole code. |

uhm
no See, Microsoft licenses PORTIONS of the OS's code to companies so they can better their products compatibility with the OS. One of those portions got leaked. You'll find sol.c which is solitaire, among other things like that. The code that powers the kernal is not included. |
