i agree with ufot's post.
music is what makes a party, it should be your main concern. |

i think the reason you gotta play for free is because it's supposed to be for djs that have no prior experience playing at parties, who are looking for an opportunity to just play for the first time, without having to worry about getting completely bashed. |

hahahahahahahh! still! there is an opportunty to entertain! aswell as teach and potentially make a couple of hookups to some paying gigs! see the bright side you know!
besides! free means you dont have to show up if you dont feel like it! hha! |

for those who complain about not getting paid, read flat.line's reply....she got it right. So did the Reg....except for the ditching part....that's not cool.
He found someone else anyways but for those of you who want to play for around 30-50 people for either a)the fun of playing or b)a chance to get used to playing outside your basement, i can give you his number and you can play at his next party. |

Ufot-not wanting to xyan blade the head off of wankers... i don't want free dj's, it's not my party, i was doing this to help someone out....and i didn't charge him for my "services".... I played minor hockey for over 10yrs, paid TO play, bought my gear, etc....why? Cuz i loved it. If i was great enough to get paid, i would do it but i'd play regardless. Depends on how you see life i guess....I understand that dj shit costs TONS but this is a group of friends. No cover, no bar, just friends who bring their own booze and good vibes. I think that anyone who does play should feel lucky that he could get you hooked up at a club after, if you're good enough. He's done it for several other djs... Side note: if anyone out there gives me FREE ice time, with a chance to play hockey for cash after, let me know. I'd love the opportunity. |

Ufot-not calling random peeps u dunno wankers fer spite points... props....for real I do know how much it costs though, my best friend has already dropped a couple a couple of grand for equipment and a tiny handful of vinyl and she's just starting. It's gonna cost her a lot more too. I still remember paying 500+ per year just to try out for elite teams without even knowing if i'd make the cut....then there was over $1000 for gear which i grew out of or had to replace. Sharpenings and tape alone cost a bundle....and sticks....urgh....$20-$30 each just to watch em snap...I sold off multiple Roy/Lemieux mint rookie cards just to keep playing, along with the rest of my card collection. I do understand where your coming from, this guy isn't a leech though....apart from hooking up djs he hooks up musicians as well. He bounced at a lot of bars (was even security for Berurier Noir back in France for a while....) so he does know a lot of the right people. |
