Converge signing with Epitaph is probably better than some of the alternatives out there - especially since Equal Vision has apparently been picked up by Sony... and I can't imagine Converge fitting in what that camp. |

gotta agree but what matters is how much the label is gonna put into promoting these artists
epitaph is making some serious moves (even in the hiphop department) and i just hope that gets kids that follow whats on that label and buys their compilations get into the 'other' artists from the scene that they're coming from thats always cool |

yeah... Atmosphere and Sage Francis getting picked up was a bit of a surprise... and there are some strange projects in the works (ie: Error - which is a collaboration between members of Bad Religion, Nine Inch Nails and Dillinger Escape Plan)...
It's going to be an interesting year... especially as it'll be the follow up to their foray into CanCon (Weakerthans and Daniel Lanois both released on there last year)... Wait... I thought I was supposed to be a narrowminded hardcore DJ that doesn't know anything about other forms of music. Ignore everything I've said here. No... really. |

is it safe to talk about grindcore then? dying fetus, agoraphobic nosebleed, carcass, bolt thrower gotta love agoraphobic for their drum machine stylings... can't listen to that stuff too often tho |

I think I weirded people out when I closed out my set with Genital Grinder II by Carcass at the 2002 edition of Party de Noel.
This past year I only brought Motorhead and Turbonegro with me... |

i'd think that the hard/speed/whatevercore crowd would dig that stuff
who's vocals is it on the doormouse track? |

I'll assume that you're referring to Doormanymouse on Addict #5... which features vocals by none other than Josh Anonymous - who was a frequent collaborator with Dan for live shows... he's also an incredible DJ and a good producer in his own right. Josh has released a record on his own label Anonymous - as well as contributing a track to the Crippled Children comp (which also featured Snares, Davros and Bombardier). Have A Few... Get Some is another of his projects - in that one he's working with Marty (aka: Abelcain, Davros).
I've got a live version of Doormanymouse from the Drop Bass NYE a couple of years back (actually - I've got the whole set) - and it's brilliant. I think it's Jesse from Crippled Children on the mic during the early part of the show yelling "KILL YOURSELF FOR CHRIST!" "ARE YOU READY TO DIE FOR JESUS?" |
