I would say the track still playable in an electro set now. And those dances need to make a comeback too! |

Ya, house music, as it's known, is good, i guess. But when you pick a whole big-ass style like that there's bound to be shit you like and shit you don't like, the more you get into it and realize all the different sub-genres and subtleties involved. I consider myself a tek-head in a sense but there's a lot of techno that's just shit, for me. Same with any style. Also, music is purely a matter of opinion (or at least, I like to think it should be).. if you really try to say that, for example, 'hip hop sucks!', well, the fact remains that some people have fun listening to it and derive enjoyment from it, and therefore it achieves its goal as music and as art. all you're really saying is 'i don't like hip hop', in this example. It's hard to escape these terms, but i'll say straight up that I think cheesy fucking house sucks, and a lot of house is ultra-cheesy commercialised crap. House, like trance, and now techno, has hit the radio, video, mainstream movie circuit and has become mutated, murdered and butchered in the process. But there's some nice minimal shit out there that I love (Alexi Delano, Casey Hogan, the Nordic Trax boys who are coming to MEG are wicked, Steve Bug, etc.) and there's some catchy tunes that grab me once in a while for sure.
Next point. since when did house start it all? I mean, that's a really long, tough argument. you can just as easily say that disco started it all. or jazz. or kraftwerk. or detroit. i think if you're arguing for house you're looking at the Paradise Garage which bred house names like Frankie Knuckles for example, but their clear predecessors were huge disco dj's, Larry Levan for example... that's were shit started on that side. And disco came from funk, Funkadelic, Parliament, etc., etc., it's always hard to nail down the origins, naaameaaan? food for thought. |

if it's under 130bpm, it's house.
if it's over 130 bpm it's trance. if it's more then 150bm, it's too fast. Hehhehe |
