i have a wireless network set up at home. everything works fine on my desktop.
my girlfriend has a laptop with a wireless card. she can use the internet fine at my place, but she can't get on icq or msn.
anyone know why? i could probably figure it out if i was at home, but i'm not so i need some help.

Your wireless router is probably using a firewall of some sort. Also, wireless still has fairly limited bandwidth, and the more computers on it, the less the router can output.

Not just that : there's a possibility that if you live in an appartment block and you didn't configure the stuff properly that you are sharing your internet connection with EVERYONE on your floor that has a wireless network card.

And to think those fucking routers sell like fucking candy at Future Shop. Freking hell.

just for the record, i'm not an idiot when it comes to computers. i simply couldn't troubleshoot as i wasn't there and i thought maybe someone else might be able to help.

anyways, the problem was (and still is) with videotron. they're fucking idiots.
