that are not telemarketing. Before you start the hate, please keep in mind I would rather read serious help rather then crap like NOTTAWA sucks, and other BS of that sort. I don't care for your opinion.... unless you are intending on being helpful. :)
I am looking to go to Montreal mostly because I have a woman who has spent all her life here in Ottawa and she has fallen in love with Montreal, so be kind to your fellow partier, and help a brother out. peace. |

if you really care about her, you should make the effort to learn french. It is the primary language of Quebec and everyone is supposed to know how to speak it. Most people in the city can speak both languages, but some cannot. Unless you are working telemarketing, which you stated you do not want to do, you will probably from time to time run into someone who speaks english poorly or not at all (like not far from where I live, where one wouldn't last 2 seconds without knowing french), and it is disrespectful to force them to speak english. |

Oh I have full intention on real learning French. I stopped when I was seventeen years old because I was naive and figured I would never need to know a second language in life... Learning french at my age will be entertaining, but I am not about to rule it out. However, that takes time and money if I am to take lessons. Need a job to have money, and where better then to learn French then in Quebec?
I know there are some Unilingual jobs other then telemarketing in Montreal, I see them every day off of many websites but wondering if anyone has any helpful tips other then "Learn french you useless anglophone!" :P |

Yup, I know. I am looking at customer service for the time being until I can get a few other things I want under my belt however job searching off of websites are very limited. If someone has a link to a customer service company, so on and so forth, post it. |

I have yet to find any in Ottawa for free, which is frankly irritating since this city demands bilingual jobs as well (considering it's location, makes sense but silly for no free french for those wanting to upgrade their skills). |

even better, start to hang out with francophones and ask them to teach you...nothing better then conversation session! =) |

Now that I totally agree with! :)
I did that when I first moved to Ottawa, but only lasted a few weeks thus kinda made me lose it again since I couldn't be bothered to listen to the chic and her friends do french a la valley girl :) |

Go on [ Monster.ca ] or Jobboom to find something thats primarily english. But seriously, its rare to find a totally english job. G'luck tho.
And i just want to comment to Scotty P who said that it is disrespectful to force the french person to speak in English. Woah buddy. Reality check!! Quebec is supposed to be a bilingual province. So isn't it fair to say that it (by your definitions anyways) is also unfair to force the english guy to speak french. I think it would be fair to say, by MY definitions, that both sides should put in a little effort when the other person is struggling. |
