well you don't have to be all of the things i named to appreciate hiphop, but those ppl are just posers, listening to rap and wearing rapper clothes does not make you one

how many times have i seen ppl dressed up candy and or raverish but i haven;'t seen them at one single party

The "thug" movement is an a result of the american commercial ganstah-rap image. It's hard to fight the power of MTV and the media empires that push this image on people.

Thugs are dangerous because they have fake-confidence brought on by overpriced clothes and accessories. When you have millions of people who all think they are the shit, you have a dangerous predisposition to violence.

Some people are unfortunately trying to parade this image in the jungle scene as well which is pretty sad and pathetic. There is nothing rebellious dressing or acting the same way as millions of other people.

And about the money side.. most rap artists save for a few successful ones (who made most of their money from doing concerts and promotion, not selling Cd's) don't own all the shit in their videos. Most of it is rented. The bentleys, gold, and mansions are all rented for the videos. It's fake shit. Only a few artists who also happen to be good businessmen (P. Diddy has a business degree from university, did you know that?) can actually afford all the gold.

wait a minute
i like alot of gangster rap

thugs can adopt pretty much any style
candy thugs
gino thugs
soccer hooligans (thugs) that got into jungle and 2-step

as much as i hate jiggy hiphop on the most part
i think all this anti-jiggy hiphop business is bullshit

fuck
look at all the originators
they wore mad gold and they we're bling blinging with their stone embeded leather jackets (gang names on those jackets), gold knuckle rings and rope chains

wore ugly coggie sweathers, ralph lauren and drove super ugly original land rovers

what was reserved for the rich white elites
became popular in the subburbs
cause y'all know how the white middle class try to immitate those living on the fringe of life (think: beat bohemian poets, ect)

breakdancing had some lineage in american latino/italian gangsters in the 50/60s mimmicking combat to embarass their oppoments (before someone pulls a shank)

nobody got any attention talking about hustling and street violence until Kool G Rap did

it was the 80s
cocaine was big even in the black clubs where hiphop played

since hiphop, aside from being party music to rock a block party, reflected street reality

thugs appeared also and made their own brand of rap

one other thing

jamaican deejays were first ones rocking doubles of american doowop and big band records

immigrated to america they were also the first ones to catch the funk breaks for bboys (break boys)
Mc's used to just be a hypeman for the DJ; much like the same tradition from dancehall/dub

jazzy jeff and the fresh prince
dj polo and kool g rap
grandmaster flash and the furious five

dj's came before emcees
things started changing as that elvolved

songs to listen to
the arsonists - flashback
looptroop - militant vynilists
those jurassic 5 fools
nuff said
i can on and on

shoudn't be the music you have a problem with
only fakes and tryhards
they'll always be around to absorb and appropriate any culture

bad influences are all over the place
