I didn't like the 280's because I found them uncomfortable on your head for extended periods of time.
I'm feeling bad chemistry right now..

I like sennheisers cause they use fucking DIP SWITCHES to hold the wires in so if you smash your phones and one of the sides doesn't work you open it up and don't even have to solder anything to reattach the wire to the driver.
I'm feeling meow right now..

I've wanted a new pair of headphones for a couple years now.. I've been using these AVG K240 studio headphones for DJing. I guess they do in a pinch, cuz they were all I had after my Panasonics broke. but I really don't like the sound at all. and at gigs on a loud system they suck.

so after researching it for a while, I just got the Sennheiser HD 25-1 II from Long & McQuade. they're expensive - $281.00 after tax - but the parts are replaceable, and they came highly recommended from a whole slew of veteran DJs that I asked

I love em! I did a sound test with these and the AVGs, and it's like night and day. the Sennheisers are a lot louder and much clearer. and they really keep the external sound out. and they have a cool design where the headband splits for a really good fit. so they sound *amazing*, they're comfortable and they're built to last. I'm really happy with em =)

=) ya I was surprised to see that, actually. so I looked up some product reviews on audiophile sites, and apparently a lot of the better Sennheiser headphones are made or assembled in Éire

Build quality is excellent, the drivers are made in Germany while the headphones are assembled in Ireland (just as the rest of the professional and higher end Sennheiser headphones are.

hum...dude...that's because K240 are production headphones and they're semi-open...that's quite normal.
You just compared DJing headphones with production headphones.......
I'm feeling horny right now..

oh ya I know they're production headphones. somebody gave em to me. so I had em em tucked away as a spare if my DJ headphones ever broke. they actually sound decent, but just not what I need

thanks .. was gonna say that...lol

cant really mix at raves with something that open ... the akgs are also flat...so less fun with the sound cause you dont have that bass boot they give in dj headphones...

... the hd25 s are really nice too ... but too small for me... they dont even cover the whole ear.. but really good choice dude!!
I'm feeling pinkier and pinkier!! right now..

lol ya I totally see what you guys mean - I didn't mean to compare them like they were both DJ headphones.. it just so happened that I had that pair of AVGs sitting there, so I used them for DJing until I get a proper pair. but after a year and a half, my ears got used to them.. so now I feel liberated =)

I have so much things that I've needed to save for: soundcard, traktor, mixer, monitors, lots of vinyl + the shipping, travelling, and all kinds of other expenses - that buying new DJ headphones was a low priority.

one of my friends here in Hamilton was in a similar position.. his regular DJ headphones broke, but he since he had sunk all his cash into an upcoming party he was throwing, so he just did his gigs using crappy ear bud walkman headphones =)

ya I heard that some people find the HD25s a bit small, but I think they're a good fit. the old Technics RP-DJ1200s that I used since I started seem kinda heavy and big in comparison, now
