No everywhere else. 1 1/2 or 2 1/2 = bacehlor. 4 1/2 would be a 1 Or 2 bedroom bedroom etc an so forth. It's a given that every apt has a kitchen living room bathroom, they measure the number of bedrooms in the rest of Canada. You can have an apt with a half bathroom which means I think just a toilet and sink, but that would then be noted as example a 3 bedroom with 11/2 baths
I'm feeling ez sessions monday wut! right now..

depends also on the size of the kitchen.. I was in a 4 1/2 but every room was about the same size.. living room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms.. So it was a pretty big place in the end. Unfortunately it had that wonderful Montreal construction (non-concrete floors and ceilings) which basically means you are roomates with everyone above and below you.. Fuck that shit.
I'm feeling meow right now..

In Toronto most of the rental ads are for rooms because the rent is too high most of the time for a whole apartment, plus they usually ask for first and last month's rent when you move in. Nonetheless there are quite a few affordable places out there, depending like in Montreal on location. Thing is you can actually afford some places downtown because smarter tenants figure out how to pass the place off to friends before the landlord can raise the rent by too much. But rather than say 5 1/2 which can be misleading they tell you in the ads that it has two bedrooms, a kitchen, living room, and bathroom, or mention how many floors it is or on what level. Honestly a toilet should be big enough to count as a room, though, the half thing is sort of strange honestly.

On that note I'm renting out my bachelor apartment up at St. Joseph and St. Hubert which is costing me $525 a month with utilities and a fridge, stove, washer and dryer included in the lease. If anyone wants to come have a look at the place and perhaps take over the lease it's in a really nice looking building, and it seems noise is not really an issue because it's a basement.
I'm feeling shkombombolated right now..

by the way, we're not paying 850$ for our 4 1/2, that's how much the place costs next to us (which is no longer for rent).
I'm feeling like a sketchbook! right now..

umm not they are not usually rooms... I don't know where you get your information..

and in toronto we dont represent a bathroom with 1/2 because we assume there is one bathroom
if there wasnt a bathroom i think it might be kinda weird. If there is more than one bathroom the ad would say like 4 bdrm 2 bath

if the 1/2 wasnt there would that mean your apartment doesnt come with a washroom ?
I'm feeling happy right now..

me and my roomates found a good deal !! 945 $ for a 5 1/2 at 2 minutes walk from berri uqam and 15 minutes walk from downtown... yes, we could find the same apartment in psc or verdun for maybe 50 $ cheaper, but at this point, is it worth it ? i mean, at the end of the month, if you don't have to take the bus/metro to go to your job, and you can when you go out instead of taking cabs, you save money !! plus, some neighbourhoods are cheap, but you have nothing close to your place, like grocerie stores, cheap restaurant that are open 24h/24, etc etc. so, i think you have to choose a neighbourhoud that meets your lifestyle, and if you have roomates, even if your rent is a little bit more pricey, it's not that bad because you split it by 2 or 3
I'm feeling $%? right now..
