Situation:
Cable modem goes to router A, router A connects to computer 1 with XP Router A connects to Router B, that then connects to computer 2 with Xp both connect to the internet perfectly and are on the same workgroup. They can't see each other and share files together. Any ideas on how to make it work while keeping the same hardware setup?

You prolly did, but it's not in your description of the situation...

One of the routers you should turn into a simple access point, only one of the two should be assigning ip adresses across the network
I don't quite remeber how to go about that, but sounds like that be the issue

Interestingly enough I just spent the past 5 hours researching network stuff trying to get XP to talk to OSX over Parallels. If you're still working on it...I think Craig is closest to the solution... It might be something when you go to configure the router, maybe called DHCP settings? I think that would be involved in the IP assigning business. But yeah you need to make sure only one of them is doing that. Also only one machine at a time can be using a port on a given IP address...
tbh I have no idea what I'm talking about...but maybe that will help. bah.

"Bridge Mode" is what you are looking for if you have to setup two routers together... I do the same thing cause my modem is a router also but the WTR610N is a much better router. So I bridge the WRT to the TP-LINK router which is the modem and router thing. Works flawlessly...
Set your IPS Statically if you are having trouble with accessing files... Almost always works... Forget DHCP... Also XP sucks for networking... Vista is a little better... Windows 7 is awesome... I won't even touch a computer which does not use Windows 7 anymore because it works perfectly. XP makes the internet slow. Not as slow as on a MAC :)...
