that's what they get for clear cutting thousands of acres of land that would be better off forest... true. but that's not unique to Toronto. unfortunately that happens all over. same thing in Hamilton this summer. the geniuses on city council voted in favour of a huge expressway right through a natural drainage system. very ecologically sensitive, and not to mention it was also an Indian burial ground, which is never good to mess with. sure enough, this summer some homes in the area got literally destroyed by flood waters. some people got over 10 feet of water hitting them, and the foundation just caved under the pressure. all because the streams and soil and plants that would have absorbed the heavy rains have been paved over. stupid |
