| These are the worst knives. You can buy this at Motivo on St. Zotique, just to see how shit the knives actually are. They're single layer and seem to be some kind of weak aluminum alloy thing, mostly serrated as well, but fine toothed so they'll cut a tomato but barely cut meat or fish.
Not worth it. |

| Luke,
I certainly wasn't referring to the quality of the blades here :) |

| I know, but I was really disappointed with the quality considering the price of the set. That's why I went on about it. I did however consider finding out if the holders would fit other blades. I know it won't take a decent, heavy Zwilling, because the blades are longer yet not very wide. The plastic figure is also disappointing, it's sort of light and flimsy. |

| me wants...or atleast, me wanted. Luke ruined my euphoric high on which I woudl have made an impulse purchase. Seeing how i now have 1.5k in credit card debt and counting, thats probably a good thing, but right now, Im still really sad. If only it was a metal figure... |

| Hey, don't let me stop you! I'm picky about knives! I'm a cook!
But if you want to buy this set, you can make up your mind for yourself - you might not agree with me after all. Motivo, St. Zotique and Drolet I believe. |

| HOw do those above brands you mentioned compare to miricle blade slicer - those are my most previous set of knives. They were such a bargain |

| The above brands I mentioned, first of all, cost about $200 a knife, are made of thick stainless steel, have wooden handles that won't even break off, and require regular maintenance (ie proper sharpening with a steel and occasional sharpening with a wheel). If kept in a decent condition they're durable, reliable, and capable of handling pretty much any regular kitchen job. You don't need that kind of knife unless you're a professional cook.
The miracle blades have plastic hilts for one, and they seem to all be made with a special type of finely serrated blade so that you don't have to file or sharpen them. This can be effective but you won't be able to work as quickly as you can with a pro knife, nor can you really handle meat or fish with them without making a mess. It depends. I like Ginsu knives personally but the thing with all these types of end-user products is they're not built very tough, so you aren't going to be required to use a lot of elbow grease, and if you do you'll probably break them.
That's about it. |
