Who cares about laptop and vinyl DJing ?
Apparently it's all about being popular worldwide, trance, prerecorded sets, dancing in a booth surrounded by neons and mind-control lasers and charging everyone 200$ to see you.
I'm feeling "flynn lives" right now.. |

meh, i'm just callin you out on your uneducated bashing.
You admit to knowing little to nothing about the various dj softwares and controllers on the market, yet are convinced that digital djing is merely pressing this big EASY button. I wasn't there, can't say what you claim to have witnessed, but as someone (among many) who has embraced dj'ing in all its formats, yes i do take offence to someone who self-admittedly knows fuck all about the medium bashing it

I think Gamos is just a bit pissed at the fact that he's being excluded from a thread he himself created :p
And Na brought a valid point. These days, most fuck-ups I see happen during sets happen to laptop DJs. Heh, as stated earlier, I'm very much uneducated on the whole laptop DJing thing. Still, shouldn't be harder than plugging in RCA cables, IMHO? :)
I'm feeling chaotic right now.. |

Still, shouldn't be harder than plugging in RCA cables, IMHO? :) nah, 'cause you have to plug everything in through a sound card, including the turntables if using serato, so it's a bit of a mess.. that should get cleared up soon enough and promoters and DJs alike will find proper solutions when laptops become more and more present in events. again, either have a universal laptop, so DJs just brind a USB stick and load their tracks, or some ppl will just have to get there early and plug their shit in beforehand. if using serato, then promoters should provide an extra pair of dedicated tables. it's not ideal, and a bit more work, organization, and extra gear, but in the end, that's a very good thing anyway. (promoters should install wall to wall equipment and an ordered DJ booth :p) but this is a question of the artist informing the promoter beforehand that they use a laptop. solutions: they are out there. also again, the problem with shitty mixing is never the medium used, it's the human using it. Update » Nathan wrote on Wed Jul 29, 2009 @ 3:04pm and cutterhead: i'm basically, and obviously, saying that it would be nice to see ppl not arguing on such a topic, but if they want to they can continue! what's so fucking hard to understand? if you're trying to make me look like a hypocrite or a totalitarian, you're doing a really shitty job!

i remember a party where at 2-4 am the guy brought in his cerato. and he disconnected the main ., gave us dead air for 20 min before I figured out he wasnt even connecting the wires properly.
so my take is this : lots of possibilities out there , just dont make it worse than when it was with cheaper technology and lofi Update » cutterhead wrote on Wed Jul 29, 2009 @ 3:05pm remember the guy at saphire that didnt know his bass cut was on and blamed the speaker was broken , as long as this doenst happen with newer controllers im all with it. else ppl need to learn more before.

I am not convinced that u merely press a button read my previous posts i was bashing the dj that says he is dj whips out his laptop and continuously presses the sync button is that a dj to u? The concept of playing through the laptop and with it is cool to me so go for it, if u read my previous posts on that u will see that i have no problem with that as well.....I am not bashing anything if it works for u go for it, AS I SAID BEFORE IT ISN'T FOR ME, but i have it on my laptop and i am learning how to use it!!! P.S u don't know shit about my djing and my passion for it.....I have embraced it and i am still trying to do so, by learning on my laptop new ways to mix the proper way!!! just because i am not tech savy doesn't MEAN I DON'T KNOW WHAT DJING CONSISTS....I may not know what all the programs are able to do and what is what but if u pay attention and take your time and are patient u pick up alot.

Guys since I've been djing longer than anyone on this board I'm gonna give you people my 2 cents
The other thing that matters is your perfromance If you rock the crowd, the crowd is happy, everyone is happy If you stink the place up, the crowd is not happy, you've failed Dosen't really matter what medium you use. You can sit in a corner all day finding faults in the other guy, oh he uses a laptop, oh he didn't mix that track right, I play vinyl, he dosen't, etc... the fact is if he/she rocks it more than you, you lose Remember its the crowd who decides if you're good, not you or some other dj So stop fighting like a bunch of crazy monkeys, you making yourselves and djing look bad. More PLUR please
I'm feeling sunshine right now.. |
