What do people think of these speakers. I'm thinking of buying 4 of them... the thing is bass is a fairly "individualistic" frequency, to be translated properly it needs it's own speaker.. A bass's sound wave is physicaly larger than that of mids/treble, so it needs more of the speaker's "attention" to happen properly.
If a speaker is constantly vibrating from producing mids and highs, it can't properly produce bass, at least not as well as it needs to be produced.. And the speakers totally don't have a proper-sized resonance chamber to really work at outputing good subs, especially at loud volumes. | |

the reason i want so many speakers is so i can have clearer sound at a lower volume... maybe getting 8 smaller speakers would be better but i think this is the best thing... | |

well for a really clean sound you'd need speakers dedicated to each frequency; highs mids and subs.. while one 15" speaker can do the whole range, it's not going to do so cleanly.
Sound waves are produced by vibration, and the different sound waves are physicaly different in size.. if you want the sound to be clean, each range really needs to have it's own dedicated speaker. high: /-\_/-\_/-\_/-\_/ mids: /--\__/--\__/--\__/--\__/ bass: /---\___/---\___/---\___/---\___/ for one clean bass sound to come out, it needs to be vibrating on it's own.. but as you can see, before one 'wave' of bass can come out, you get like 2 of high and 1 1/2 of mid Lots of speakers also won't make things louder.. to double the volume of something, you need to have it be 3db higher (96db is twice as loud as 93db), and for wattage it's by a factor of 10; 500 watts is NOT twice as loud as 250; 2500 is twice as loud as 250. | |

can't go wrong with JBL!
and i also think having a sub is kinda usless, at most of our so "rave venues" i can't put that much bass anyway |

I agree, a crossover and a sub will definitely give you that clearer crisper sound you want.
The lows have a dedicated source, and the mids and highs will be clearer because of it. People are afraid of the word bass or subwoofer, but used correctly, and not overdone, it won't neccessary irk the rage of your neighbours, actaully they will love you for it! | |

I agree.. frequencies need to be separated properly to have the cleanest sound. Problem with 4 or more identical speakers is that they are all made for the same thing, so you're either gonna be under utilizing the system by cutting frequencies out of some, or just getting the exact same sound from all of them, and as said, one size fits all is just not reality. | |
