I mean The Thriller album sold over 46 million copies the highest grossing album of all time...It says something about the artist doesn't it? Some hated him some loved him, me i respected him for his artistry!

Some hated him some loved him, me i respected him for his artistry! Over 100 million copies actually. [ en.wikipedia.org ] But albums sales alone does not show much about the artist. It shows a lot about the artist's PR company. We also have to verify the number of actual Top 30 hits. Michael had 33. Not a lot compared to other people. Still, more than most artists today. I'm not going to lie, I listened to MJ a lot as a kid. Thriller was always awesome. But MJ hasn't done shit in over twenty years. He might have been the King of Pop at the time but come on, there's a huge difference between a hasbeen dying and someone dying at his most popular time (i.e. Elvis). You can't compare both. And it doesn't absolve him of anything he's done. The saddest part, to me, was that MJ was about to open a Thriller-themed casino. That would have been badass.

I'm not saying he doesn't deserve recognition for what he's done, simply that his death is overhyped.
I mean, Johnny Cash changed folk music forever and I don't remember people crying in the streets about his death... Anyway. Further news report indicate that he died of a drug overdose... meh.

it's such a shame that someone so incredibly talented and healthy would later become so self-destructive, especially since a lot of it probably stemmed from abuse as a child
but back in the day he was so good, so that's how I'll remember him. RIP |
