My godmother is a social worker and she doesn't really like her job. it make her start smoking again and its more than depressing hearing about people's problems all day. She tell's me all kinds of fucked up stores where parents beat there 2 year old children, or about drunk mothers raping there dogs and all kind of nasty fucked up in-humain crap..
i would think twice about this type of job.. but that's just me .. :)

I know I would become this depressed and miserable person because I know I'd always be taking my work home with me. I know I am not strong enough emotionaly

You are a total ignorant and will always be. I am an 'ignorant'? Congratulations on using an adjective as a noun genius! Learn to speak properly and maybe make an actual argument next time instead of calling someone you don't know a word that you obviously don't understand. Fuck you. Update » AlienZeD wrote on Wed Jan 31, 2007 @ 12:24am I'm not going to lie, I've never 'enjoyed' that gut wrenching feeling from watching depressing movies. I don't need horror stories to make me appreciate my life, I know I'm lucky and I know I have to continue to work if I want to succeed and achieve my goals.
I am sorry for saying this, as I am not aiming at anyone, but I can't stand people who are constantly depressed; all they want is to make everyone around them feel just as shitty as they do. Happiness, generally, can only be achieved by gaining control of your own damn mind and somehow getting out of the spiral of depression. It's not easy to do, but life's not easy, life's not fair, deal with it. Everyone gets depressed now and again and needs a shoulder, I don't mind being that shoulder, in fact I love to help others out. But I know one or two people who are digging their own grave deeper and deeper and deeper and blame everyone but themselves. Survival of the fittest I guess. Sure, I have a lot to learn, who doesn't? Don't tell me I'm ignorant for wanting to stay positive by surrounding myself with positivity and eliminating the negative aspects of life. It's a choice that everyone makes for themselves. c'pas déprimant.
TK. Update » Vee-Vee wrote on Wed Jan 31, 2007 @ 12:41am "requiem for a dream" and "les voleurs d'enfance" have NOTHING to do with one another. on parle d'UN DOCUMENTAIRE qui dénonce une réalité versus un truc fictif avec une tendance pseudo-trip artistique. urgh.
"but I can't stand people who are constantly depressed; all they want is to make everyone around them feel just as shitty as they do" Wow.

*lol* You know, I never got the impressions that you thought there was anything *wrong* with depressing movies, just that you don't enjoy them. He he, and that's totally fair. I have some friends that when they come over and I ask wanna watch a movie they ask "Will I want to commit suicide after it?". I've got the rep for loving the pain. DrGonzo & Mico------> Hey, it's cool that guy guys agress with me, I thought I was alone in being an emotional sadist. :) Maybe we should exchange movie recommendations!

I kinda adore that unconvential romance of 'Secretary'. Much like I enjoyed 'Benny and June' or 'Harold and Maude'. I have a think for quirky love stories. :D Update » maery wrote on Wed Jan 31, 2007 @ 3:43pm Some of the most depressing films I've ever seen (If you're looking for some pain):
Abre Los Ojos (Open your eyes) Amores Perros (Love's Bitch) We Don't Live Here Anymore Irreversible The Squid & The Whale (Not exceptionally depressing, but tragic) The Sweet Hereafter and most recently, Labyrintho Del Faune (Pan's Labyrinth) (to name a few)
