Normally I'd agree with you and say the past doesn't matter cause it can't be changed but for something so epic that has affected so many generations it might be nice to discover the truth so that future generations aren't equally deceived. Sure theguy's just a professor which means his argument is as arbitrary as anybody elses but his study implies that hundreds of millions of individuals living today believe in what may be (and probably is) a lie.
Information is the most valuable resource... its our duty as human beings to properly scrutinize everything we're told and conditioned to believe is truth. The bottom line is that absolute truth exists regardless of the knowledge thereof so what actually happened represents reality as opposed to the communal belief of what supposedly happened.

Yes we should think for ourselves but NO there isn't any 'absolute truth' either. You're forgeting about something called perspective and that what people 'believe' has nothing to do with what actually happened or what they think happened either. If ANYONE believes that a man walked on water, they are stupid because you can try as often as you'd like and you will sink. That's proof and that's truth. But that doesn't mean that being Christian means you believe in something impossible, there is 'faith' and there are morals to stories. Did Moses part the sea? No but the story itself has a moral and the lesson learned is more important that the facts of the story. Besides, who would listen to your story if nothing cool happened? No one, that's who. Lies are persuasion but noble lies most certainly do exist. So decide for yourself what you want to believe but don't lie to yourself unless you have a good reason to. In Christianity, you're supposed to be a good person so that you go to heaven. That's the smartest lie ever told because even though there's no heaven, earth is a MUCH better place thanks to all those morons who act nice because of what they believe. So I guess what I am saying is that it's not HOW you get there so long as you get there somehow. If people would only nice if they felt there were consequences, then I am all for pushing the belief of those consequences on them, and if they are smart, they will realize the same thing. god that was long. sorry

Almost all religions use fear along with positive and negative pseudo-reinforcement convictions as their main methods of control. Religion was originally intended to keep people from questioning what couldnt be answered or understood rationally but has proven itself to be the main reason for conflict amongst people throughout history.
I think you misunderstood what I mean by "Absolute truth"... it is, undenyably the events which have, and continue to unfold... in essense, existence itself. Everything going on at this particular instant is dependant on everything that has happened previously exactly as it has happened. Whether or not we know how, why, or when something happened is irrelevant because it did. From an epistemological point of view one could arguably say (based on the vil genius theory) that the only thing we know for sure is that we doubt but that truth exists somewhere in some form even if we cant (or aren't meant to) find it...

I once steped in a puddle and got water in my shoe... I was unhappy.
If jesus could walk on water tho, does this mean he could theoretically walk over a very large bassin of pee? Urine is mostly made up of water and salts (sounds like the ocean to me...) Common Jesus do it!
I'm feeling nothing important right now.. |

Saltwater has a higher boiling point than pure water & affect buoyancy as well so who knows...

Once I was at the beach and I saw the Sun of God really low in the sky,
It looked like it was walking on the water. Anybody here agrees that this whole story could've been made up with symbols, but because of bad translations it's been modified a bit?
I'm feeling clasherized! right now.. |

well, he did exist, it's been proved. To tell whether or not he was the son of God, I think it's up to your beliefs.

all i have to say is that a man in Italy is presenting a case infront of the sumpreme court in Italy this year, and his case is that he wants to prove, and he thinks he can, that jesus never existed... if he does, it'll mean that the entire catholic faith is bullshit, and that could change a lot of things...
Ufot-give me a break, jesus a carpenter, sure...
I'm feeling wtf right now.. |
