For an event planning class I have to plan an fictiously plan an event and present to the class how i would do it.
Soooo... i decided to fake plan a party. I am looking for help as to what makes a good party and what I have to think about to make a party successful. How much money should i expect to invest, etc etc. anything would be helpful. |

humm, i'm no pro on the subject, but if you need help, i can maybe give you some ideas..
first off, you must choose how big this event will be. If your planing to rent the Moslon center or just a little loft. whatever your choicesm, you should consider the following: -Sound expences (dj's included) -Security -water bottles and goodies -flyers Now, you should note that you don't have to pay everything 100% upfront, meaning that ticket sales will help you pay for your event, changing the "how much money" you should invest. I hope this helps, and if i'm forgeting anything, please feel free to ad to my little list.. Good luck :) |

A nice number to work with when troughing a party is 20 000$(especialy a fictional one). promo can cost up to 2000 sound and other equipment 4000. then go from there. I think you should have fictional Mini dj's playing. |

costs
Venue - 250-30,000 Djs (fees, hotels, travel, food expenses)local=100 Import= 800-10,000 Printed Tickets = 200 Flyers = 500-3000 Flyer Whores = $8/hr Ads = 100-1000 Website = 300 Security = 500-4000 Sound = 500-15,000 Lighting = 300-10,000 Paramedics = 450 Car Rentals(weekend of event) = 150 Decorations = 200-3000 Bevrages = 200-1000 Food = ??? The way to figure out ticket prices is as follows Maximum Occupancey/2 = break even point... costs/break even point = price per ticket... So, lets say a party cost you 15,000 (realistic for a medium size party) and you expect to draw 800 people. Divide 1000 in half. So you want to break even after selling 500 tickets...Also figure in about $4 per ticket on water and other toys, so take of $4 from your avargae price. so tickets for this hypothetical party would be approx $25 Tese are the general figures i use when budgeting a party. But then there are all sorts of other things to do to reduce costs and increase ticket sales. I unfortunatly have never broke even at the half way point. The majority of the parties ive thrown have lost money. The ones that did't only made a couple $100 and were completly sold out. did that help at all?? |
