How do you copy files into an external hard drive? I plug my ex. hd into my mac/pc and nothing happens...I would figure a window would pop up or something...

It should just show up as a new drive. Keep in mind also that MacOS and WinXP both use diffrent kinds of filesystems, and that the drive that's been formated for one most likely won't be able to be written to by the other. It's something that's especially true it the drive came from a WinXP computer, because the NTFS filesystem is read-only by anything not windows.

Figgured out that the thing came with no manual and one less cable than it should have. It needed 2 USB cables to work, one for data transfer and one for power.

no window pops up, you just click on the new drive in my computer and then copy stuff into it as if it was a normal folder on your computer.
