Self-knowledge cannot be gathered through anybody, through any book, through any confession, psychology, or
psycho-analyst. It has to be found by yourself, because it is your life. J. Krishnamurti |

Mr. Garrison: "Who was in charge of the feminist movement of the early 60's?" Cartman: "A bunch of fat old skanks on their periods." Mr. Garrison: "Right, but who was the fattest, oldest skank on her period?" |

This isn't how I wanted you to meet my mom. I wanted it to be more formal. I wanted us to be dressed nicely. I also wanted her to be in a large pine box that was slowly being lowered into the ground.
Somehow, I see myself uttering these words to someone before they ever meet my mom... |

What came first, the music or the misery?
People worry about kids playing with guns, or watching violent videos, that some sort of culture of violence will take them over. Nobody worries about kids listening to thousands, literally thousands of songs about heartbreak, rejection, pain, misery and loss. Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music? |

"Alright, well first I want you to tongue my bung, while you juggle my balls in one hand and play with my asshole with the other. But don't stick your finger in. Then I want to pinky you while I stick it in you fucking friend's brown, while Silent Bob watches and fucking spanks in a Dixie Cup. And after that I wanna smell your titties for a while, and you can pull my nutsack up over my dick so it looks like a bullfrog. Then I want you to fucking flick my nuts while your friend spanks me off in the same Dixie Cup that Silent Bob jizzed in. Then we throw the Dixie Cup out."

I know a number of people – some of whom I love very much, some of whom I love very little, all of whom come equipped with a potent persona that sets them apart from the normative herd – and these people, whatever I may think of them, share one ideological linchpin in common.
They believe that life is essentially cruel. That we’re basically fucked, and that’s all there is to it. That any warmth, success or happiness we manage to enjoy is, in essence, a temporal, fleeting thing: clawed by dint of sheer will or trickery from the earth’s begrudging breast, then yanked away at the earliest opportunity. They sincerely believe, in their heart of hearts, that we were born to fight and die in a world that loves us not at all, and cares for us even less… It’s not hard to know these things; and yes, that’s just the way it is. Once you bite the apple – or the apple bites you – you can never unsee. You can only stop looking. You can only forget or deny, let the two feed on each other, as they so often do. But for those who find honour in wide-open eyes, it can then become astonishingly difficult to trust: a Promethean endeavour which – if these folks are to be believed – pretty much guarantees you an eternity strapped to the screaming, bleeding rock. Sporting a little sign that reads, “SUCKER!!!” ... close, but no cigar. skipp's just as morbid, in a delectable sort of way. |
