The Governator at least made it look like it was a hard choice for him (like a republican would let a black man off) by taking almost till the dealine but in the end decided Tookie's gonna die. I wonder if all the anti-gang work he's done has actually managed to save a couple lives...

I am totally against death penalty.
But I don't think this guy has been redeemed. He STILL thinks he is innocent of the murders. You murder people, youre done. the end |

Vote for me, for chrisakes!
I'll change the world... like that!! Bitch. As for Mr. "Tookie" Williams. I think it's a damn shame. Did you know that Austria is thinking of renaming a soccer stadium that was named after Anry? They also want to remove all the touristic attractions related to the native Austrian, because they are SOOOO ashamed of his call not to give "Tookie" clemency. |

um, yeah, you're totally against the death penalty... [ www.indymedia.org ] Stanley "Tookie" Williams
FORMER CRIPS GANGMEMBER REHABILITATED, BUT KILLED ANYWAYS In the days before his death, a new witness appeared: Gordon Von Ellerman has reported that he had knowledge that Oglesby, a witness who testified against Williams, had in 1979-80 been studying to help frame Williams. Von Ellerman named several other people who he thought could corroborate his statement. One issue in appeals in this case highlighted the fact that the prosecutor in Tookie's original trial removed three African-American jurors from the jury. During this trial, this prosecutor made racially-coded remarks during his closing argument, comparing Stan during the trial to a Bengal tiger in the zoo and stating that a black community - South Central Los Angeles - was equivalent to the natural "habitat" of a Bengal Tiger. The U.S. Supreme Court disregarded 9 of the 24 Ninth Circuit Court judges' assertion that the District Attorney at Tookie's trial employed "reprehensible and unconstitutional" racist tactics. This landmark ruling means that all over the US, people of color can be rejected from juries based on the color of their skin. Petitions to the US Justice Department and to Governor Schwarzenegger (1 | 2) were signed by hundreds of thousands of people, and many, many letters and phone calls were issued-- to no avail. That's rad, though, Mico, about the Austrians disowning him. I wish they'd go take care of their trash though instead of just trying to forget/deny how much they worshipped him. |

The following form the article:
"Schwarzenegger was unswayed by pleas from Hollywood stars and petitions from more than 50,000 people who said that Williams had made amends during more than two decades in prison by writing a memoir and children's books about the dangers of gangs." "Among the celebrities who took up Williams' cause were Jamie Foxx, who played the gang leader in a cable movie about Williams; rapper Snoop Dogg, himself a former Crip; Sister Helen Prejean, the nun depicted in the movie Dead Man Walking; Bianca Jagger; and former MASH star Mike Farrell. During Williams' 24 years on death row, a Swiss legislator, college professors and others nominated him for the Nobel Prizes in peace and literature." makes me undertsand very well why the Austrians feel embarassed by him. Even if he did kill people, if he learned his lessons, and had a valuable message to send to todays youth about those lessons.. well who would know better about these things than someone who's been there? Nobel peace prize? I mean.. wtf, what a dick that Arnold has been. |

Im Glad Tookie tried in the end to make a positive change.
but i read books on the subject vigorously. and another CRIP gang member named MONSTER Kody Scott, described Tookie as a man even more vicious than he. And let me tell you thats retardedly vicious. Tookie has been commiting the act of murder since the age of 13.No amount of rehabilitation will make these people well enough not to Blow a fuse and commit murder again.NOTHING. In fact i believe the only reason TOOKIE and MONSTER were able to calm down and do something positive was because they are stuck in prison., No one deserves to be put to death. But some people need to be locked up in one way shape or form. But not anywhere in the curent prison system. |

I agree.. none of us really know whether or not he has the killing urge in him anymore, so its best that he's not on the streets. But killing him? The death sentence is NEVER justified imho. |
