| I was wondering if there is such a software that can sync my emails from outlook express on my desktop and my laptop.
like lets say i receive an email on my laptop, it would add itself to my messages on my desktop too, thru my network. Same thing for my address book |

| wouldn;t you think that you can achieve that by configuring both your labtop and your desktop to have outlook express, the same account. |

| well it is the case, but if i receive an email on one computer, i wont be able to look at it another time on the other one, if needed |

| i think there is an option to turn off deleting your emails on server after d/ling them. And i think the option is intelligent and knows which one you possess. So if you connect from computer A and d/l emails 1-10, and then you receive 2 more email and you download 1-12 from B. If you redownload from A it will only d/l emails 11-12.
I'm not sure tho so you should test it.
There are exporters that will do that but they are not meant to synchronize but rather to backup the entire email db and then reload it on another computer.
Maybe you should think of a web based solution like gmail, hotmail, etc.. |

| I have a script to sync folders on my external drive and my laptop.. if you used it with the outlook folders it would probably effectively sync the two |

| don't bother with switching to imap. it's most likely going to cost more. with a pop3 account, you can configure OE to leave the emails on the server.
open OE, then go to Tools > Accounts. click the 'Mail' tab, choose your account, click 'Properties', click the 'Advanced' tab and then look at 'Delivery'. you can set OE to leave the messages on the server or delete them after a certain period of time.
i don't know of any synch programs, but you can do what is set your desktop to leave mail on the server and set your laptop to delete them. there are two downsides to this, though. one, you'll always have to check mail on your desktop first. two, if you get any emails after you check with your desktop but before you check with your laptop, you'll only have the new ones on your laptop.
or you could set both computers to leave the messages on the server and then delete them manually through webmail or telnet. |

| you can set up an internet log-in for your outlook. That way you can use the actual program at home, and whenever you are elsewhere, you log in with IE. I have no idea how well it would sync though but worth a try. |
