Don't waste all your money in the beginning. CDs are a good choice, the gear is cheaper and CDs are cheaper + last longer + easier to learn with. You can always adjust to vinyls/buy TTs when you decide what style you wanna play or even if it still interests you and want to pursue that (believe me it's a disappointing business, there's NO money to be made and people fuck you over a lot).
if you're rich, well... lucky you buy tts and vinyls!

im certanly not rich lol, i do have the money for a nice gear and i really want to get into it, not for the money, but for fun. and i tought of the cdj-s because for the beggining i could burn my own cds and practice on those, try out as many songs as i want without spending $$$$$$.

thanks for all the help and advice guys, i will think about it for sure :)

for the music i would like to play hmmm it would be drum n bass and goa/psy, and i tought about hardtrance too, these are my favorites and i would like to learn to mix each style, not only one...

Just a warning on cd-djs... Burning mp3s is fine for practicing, but for the record a compressed mp3 of a vinyl rip (ussually never virgin vinyl either), is not going to sound too good... If you are doing psytrance you can pretty much stick to cd-djs exclusively though.. The reason psytrance is not widely available on vinyl is an interesting one... The origin of goatrance (which evolved into psytrance), was goa, india... The weather and sand would destroy vinyl very quickly... I'm sure the big outdoor parties in Israel aren't going to work too well with vinyl either...

many of the top djs only use cd now . Because of the limitations of most PA systems , you won'tbe able to tell the difference between a high quality and vinyl.

Actually, most big DJs use CDs because of the dub-plate culture that's going on. It's a lot easier/cheaper to give people a CD with your latest tracks that are coming out on vinyl in 8 months than to press dubs and promo copies.

i never gave a reason why djs use cds so i don't really understand why you are arguing a point i never made. Djs use cds because it is cheaper and less combersome .You can also play un released material. It basically unbinds the tradional dependency on labels to have make a vinyl in order to play it. As well it is alot easier to travel with. You also don't have to worry about your tracks degrading after each play

And i guess the biggest reason which i indirectly mensioned. Most people can't tell the difference between cds and vinyl sonically speaking so why not.

.... also in some cases I think crossing borders without a work permit for a dj gig is easier to justify with cds rather than "yeah im going to chill in Canada with 30 lbs of vinyl for a saturday night..but im not playing!!"

I heard of a way to get passed though... something about selling it to a USA citizen or something? umm then again you might get in shit coming back with the same amount of records, what do you do then... explain that the get didn't like your price? bleh.

most of the time the best solution is just saying you were invited to a promotional event and this is material to share from the labels you represent etc...or something of the like...Its worked in the past for us :P
