just because he was talking about a tragedy doesnt mean he doesnt care about other tragedies.. this is just more shocking because it happened in a country during peacetime rather than wartime. Its not as expected |

peace time??
last i checked england sent a whole shitload of troops off to war along with the US.. how is that peacetime? |

by peacetime i mean there isnt a war physicially going on in their country. Its not an everyday event that people are getting bombed in London. Therefore events like this are more shocking to occur in London, but doesnt mean their lives are worth more either. |

given the press coverage, i'd say a lot of people do infact see this london bombing as being far worse than say a carbomb killing 20 people in egypt.. |

you are probably right.
But i wasn't talking about the press. I was just merely saying that you shouldn't assume that because one individual is sad/shocked about the london bombing that they disregard ones in third world countries. |

Well this isn't a surprise. Payback for hundreds of years of murder and colonization, but these are innocents victims...
Believe me, England is going to regreat winning those Olympics. Ok you had Moscow, NY, Madrid, Paris, London. These are the cities that Al Quaida would be more likely to hit ! All of 5 of them ! Actually all 5 of them have dealt with Islamic terrorist in the past. Think they weren't planning anything ? And not only what happened today, but in 2012. This isn't good. Let's hope the Muslims finally solve the problem before that (because neither the french, the english or the americans can solve this, only the muslims can). But on the other hand, neo has a point. Attacks like these shock people, because no one expects them, because these people weren't suppose to die. But people in Iraq, Egypt, or Sudan, are expected to die, so we just don't care. We accept the fact that people die every day, or we just forget about it. We think it doesn't concern us, we think it's not our fault. I think we are responsible for letting people die every day. I think there's something selfish of spending all your money on raves, on drugs, on clothes, on restaurants, while for some people, shit they don't even have enough money for food. There's a big mess out there, and everyone is just too greedy to do something about it. So things like 9/11, the Madrid train bombing, or the London attacks, are not surprinsing. |

The usual noises and chatter filled our half full metro car tonight, as it travelled east on the green line.
As the brakes engaged and the train started to decelerate into Atwater station, the familiar female voice recording sounded over the loudspeaker: "Prochaine station, Guy-Concordia." Two or three people in the car seemed to notice this inconsistency, and one or two looked confused. Other people, lost in a novel or their iPods didn't seem notice anything, until the train came to a stop at the platform. The doors opened, and people stepped out of the car. Suddenly, the florescent lights on the roof of the train went out, and the rest of the power in the train died. The car was plunged into darkness, and everyone immediately fell silent - some with their eyes scanning the train. Two seconds later, the power was restablished, the lights came on and there were audible sighs of relief. Edgy. |
