ya seriously people, have some respect... it's easy to say that you're tired of a venue, but the real reason rave promoters switch venues is not to make a fresh, new place for partiers, it's because it's so hard to find a secure venue for a reasonable price.. you can only use a venue so many times before you start hitting problems (fire marshall, complaints in the area, etc.).

maybe other people are not in my shoes, but for a very long time I went to Sona every Friday (and also to lots of underground parties).. but there was something special about seeing the same core of people every Friday coming out to represent hard techno in MOntreal (and this could apply to any style, techno is not important)... there was NO deco at Sona, nothing special going on, just residents and usually one out-of-town guest... they didn't need to make it "special" or make the night unique; it was simply the best place to go, best sound, best people, and we went every Friday.

in comparison, Gravity has better sound, WAY nicer staff, lots of cool places to chill, reasonable entry prices usually, and tons of different styles of music coming through. Why can't it just be the regular place for underground afterhours parties? I think it's a great thing to imagine - there will still be plenty of other parties, raves, underground things, but to have a secure, after hours club to serve as the center and hub for all these people and parties is a great thing that our city needs...

Yeah I mean honestly, with the huge police and fire dept crackdown a few years ago, try finding a decent venues nowadays. Bingos are pretty damn borderline and the city's gonna look into your setup with a microscope. That's IF you can find a bingo that'll trust you and rent you their space ( read : none of them ).

So unless someone can correct me on the number of available venues in this city, I don't think anyone's in a position to expect parties to be done in a new venue every month. If it was 2000, sure. But today, good fucking luck.

Consider this : if huge-ass machines like 514 & Ray Junior are going through municipal and bureaucratic nightmares to do parties these days, not a lot can be said about what a bunch of guys shopping for a small venue will have to pull off to throw a party.

And please, by all means, nothing would please me more than to stand corrected on this.

Anyway, even if you don't like the place too much, one would be pretty stupid to miss an event with a good line up just cause he doesn't like the venue.

Yeah, and unfortunately, by the looks of things, we're gonna follow the same trend we've been following for the past few years.

2 years ago - Bingo Hall
last year - Rainbow
This year - Gravity

In 2 months you'll book 2 rooms FULL of international headliners and no one will show up for 10$ at the door.

anyways what i don't understand from you people is that i said i have other venues, which i do to any of your likings and you decide to diss gravity, whatever i'm baffled from the stupidity of some of you.
i own a limop service and i have big garages that i keep the limos in and the place is great for your underground parties, and i also have others so people think before you shit...
