My blue hair is fading, and now the blue is becoming an ugly green/gray/blond schmock. :b
I've been using Manic Panic but it fades too quickly. It's the only blue dye I found though.

So I was wondering, is there a blue hairdye that's permanent? That doesn't fade?

try punky color. I just dyed mine blue for the first time so I'm not quite sure how long it will last, but every other color I've tried in punky color has stayed nicely for at least a month. Of course, you can't wash it as often as usual. I think it's impossible to find a permanent dye in those colors, but I've always found punky color to last longer than manic panic. :) Use the manic panic bleach though, it's by far the best I've tried :) Good luck!

It also depends on the shampoo you use, a lot of shampoo's stipe the color off.

when i dyed my hair pink, i was told not to shampoo for a week
just rinse hair under hot water and condition (no, my hair didnt get greasy and gross)
i used manic panic and it lasted quite some time.

Yeah well the two times I used Manic Panic, it lasted only a few weeks and was totally faded by then. Let's just say I'm no big fan of it either.

I always use Punky Color as well. Aerial raver, if you take the metro often and you have a weekly pass or something, go to Sherbrooke metro station, walk out, across the street on St-Denis at X2O, in, buy, out and back in the metro. Done. :)

For application, I cannot stress enough to NOT FOLLOW some instructions on the bottle though : I leave the dye in my hair for hours, not the recommended 15 minutes. I bleach, I dry, I apply and I cover with a shower cap ( to prevent the dye from forming a crust ).

For me, it lasts at least a full week to two weeks before it starts fading...and that's with washing my hair once every two days at max.

Be advised : my hair isn't like yours, results may vary but I recommend this procedure anyway. 15 to 20 minutes is nowhere near long enough for your recently bleached hair to sip the dye in.

if you can get your hands on Directions or Fudge, they`re the best. But PUnky is way easier to use. NEVER EVER use drugstore-bought dye when it comes to radical colours!
