| i first got a
- Toshiba A70-ML1 Pentium 4 3.06GHz Notebook
and it sucked
so i got a
- Toshiba A50-AG1 Pentium M 725 1.6GHz Notebook
and it rocks!!
I must say, If you're in the laptop market go for CENTRINO anything 1.6GHz+ |

| ah yeah sucks I wanted a 1.6 and almost got one but I couldn't afford it last summer... Centrinos are way better on battery life and seem to handle music programs quite well. |

| I've got a celeron 550! :lol |

| I've got a lovely breifcase model of an Athlon 1400.. does that count as a laptop? |

| Toshiba Tecra M1 1.7ghz Centrino ;)
For a business computer nothing beats it... Super small, very powerful, graphics card kinda sucks but they fixed that with the Tecta M2 (cheaper) which is the one they are selling now. |

| I noticed recently my screen has one dead (always on) pixel. It's pretty hard to see (1 out of over 3 million subpixels). I doubt I could get the screen replaced becuase of that...
Otherwise I think toshibas are pretty good systems |
|
Coolness: 61555
| one dead pixel is normal for toshiba screens.. they will only replace the screen if it has more then 7 dead pixels |

| Good 'ol LCDs.... |
|
Coolness: 2749630
| Mine does not have any dead pizels ;)... not yet... But my screen is dirty... i have to clean it I notice... |
|
Coolness: 201940
| I think dead pixels are a manufacturing error, I don't think it happens over time.. But I never noticed it before.. It's still hard to see, it's easier to see the dust on top of the screen |

| dead and always-lit pixels are just a regular part of an LCD screen, they've all got them. A ton of sites talk about that. |

| yes but I want perfection, I want a perfect pure display with NO DEFECTS. |

| Plasma! |

| CRT all the way baby.
I'd never use an LCD for anything other than displaying web/email. |
|
Coolness: 686305
| yeah CRT is great. I could really go for a 42" plasma HDTV w/DVI input though... |
|
Coolness: 201940
| Ian it's pretty hard to have a crt on a laptop! Personally I prefer lcd much much more than crt, it's much easier to read, but i wouldn't do image editing with it... |
|
Coolness: 340380
| CRT is the only choice for gamers as well.
a few miliseconds counts when it comes to HeadShots. |

| LCD > CRT for music programs though, especially with a wide format screen |

uhh, the only real advantage to an LCD is it's size, since LCD's are more expensive per inch and they do not have anywhere near the same performance as a CRT of lesser price. |
