| my comment was nothing like bill's.
i said having a 64 bit cpu now is pointless.. bill implied there will never be a need for more than 640k of ram.. |

| i just built a computer for my friend 8 days ago.
got him a P4 3.2, gig of ram, 160gig SATA, ati radeon 9800 pro 128meg, and a pretty sweet mobo. |

| oh yeah, and 17" lcd all for the low low price of $2600 (keyboard/mouse and case also) |

| ijust ordered myself a new notebook... I got a P4 2.8, 60gig hd, 512 ram (333mhz), geforce 64 and wireless G...it came with a free upgrade for a dvdrw. It cost 1899+tx. Man that stuff is expensive, but i will finally be able to enjoy the McGill wireless zone instead of waiting in line for a cpu on campus. |

| tones, where did you get your notebook? I paid 1800, but i got a p4 3.2 HT. Same g card as you same hd, I knocked down my ram to 256 and bought another 512 aftermarket, saved like, 400 dollars. |

| the computer i just built for myself is an
AMD 64, 1 gig ram (only...fuck), 200 gig mem,
9800 256mb vid card, with M-Audio delta 1010 sound card, with key case & mouse
and depending on my friend a 21" flat screen
total: just over $3000

| thats pretty expensive. I just built almost the same comp for my friend (3.2ghz p4) and it cost 1500$ with dual monitors, minus the sound card tho |
|
Coolness: 56220
| his big cost is the flat screen 21 inch. |
|
Coolness: 340385
| i'm prolly gonna get a 21" LCD soon.. |
|
Coolness: 300045
| if i had that much of a budget for a comp I would rather invest more into the computer than into the monitor. |
|

| liike? |
|

| ya right. going dual screen was the best investment i made this year. i luuuuurve it.
specs: p4 3.2ghz, 1 gig ram, dual hard disks (totalling 200gigs) a.i.w. radeon 9800 pro, sblive, surround altecs, 19" samsung lcd, 17" viewsonic graphics series. i think i cashed in at 1300 before adding my second monitor. |

| RepentTokyo,
the notebook i got is the Dell Inspiron 5190,
this month you can get exactly the same one i got, minus the dvdrw, for 1699$ when I ordered it, it came with 40gig hd and afree dvdrw, so i had to pay 200$ extra for the 20 gigs (should've just bought an external 30gigs for 150...). Right now, their special is they upgrade it to 60 gigs for free. If you want the dvdrw though, you gotta pay an extra 250$. Dell always has really good deals. |
