i don't like formulaic dnb
1 cm intro 2mm build up drop 3 cm beats reverse start order for finish i like imagination especially when it comes to sounds used particularly in the drums intricate drum patterns, not the same loop the whole track and i don't like it when it's got no soul to techy just ain't my thing |

Well, Hansel, your comment is spot on " Conservatism " in a progressive genre... And sometimes it's the same recipes with the same ingredients ! I have to say that - most - drum and bass is music for the dancefloor. In a club, where most people are drunk or high, I don't think that aesthetic considerations such as these one ( originality in the choice of elements or structure of tracks / recipes ) has any kind of importance. I mean, I find it important, I think there has to be some kind of progression and non-redundancy in drum and bass, but that's just me. At the end of the day, the dancers don't care as long as the tracks sound great, drop hard, and are danceable. I think that's a bit sad, but that's just the way it is. There is always the possibility that things might change in the future. :) |

A dj can come up with an electic version of a drum&bass set ...always up to him ..
i'm quite sure Montreal has an open-minded 'nuff crowd to handle that and rock the dancefloor on more variety .. for example when Gerald Bélanger played @ Oscillate In Da jUngle 2 years ago ; he played a whole range ...from Aphex Twin and drill&bass choons to the most ancient metaln'bass anthems to liquid funk and all ... thats my man its all about taking risks if u feel like it |
