Well most mutations aren't good anyways.
Allergies, malformations, etc...

There's only a small percentage of all the mutations that makes life easier.
(like those people in a small village in Italia that have no osteoporosis because of a good mutation)

But I think technology will kill us.
I explain. Technology in itself is good, it makes us understand our universe. But with technology comes pollution, and with pollution comes climatic changes, and if these changes are too extreme for us to adapt to, we will die. Us and other species too. Which is bad.

Me thinks we should continue looking for technology, but with the constant thought of the repercussions it can have on our environment.
People should care more about environment than money, if you know what I mean...

polution isn't a direct effect of technology. polution is caused by our *current* state of technology. Technology of the future will cure these pollutants.

Let's review the question at hand...
"Is technology surpassing human need?"

Do we NEED anything really? All the things we have (except shelter and food) are completely unnecessary. So there is no debate here. Technology HAS indeed surpassed human need. There is no way we will ever NEED a digital camera, whether it be .1 or 10000 mega pixels...
Human NEED. THat is the key word here. We don't need anything. Now, if we rephrase the question to "Has technology surpassed human wants?" Then definitely no. People are stupid and always want more.
