"The way to stay young is is to make a quantum jump every so often and land yourself in a new reality-matrix" ~Robert Anton Wilson
Ok, so i'm bored as hell these days and plan on going elsewhere in the fall...have any of you lived in other countries? If so, what are the pros/cons of those countries and did you enjoy your stay? Things to consider: -Cost of living -Local food (i'm veggie) -Political climate So tell me your stories people... |

thailand is the best bet for everything. Once you get there you can live like a king for 10$ a day. Most of their food is vegetarian and right now thailand is a very peaceful country. The only downside is the price to get there. |

Umm, Thailand is RELATIVELY safe, depending on where u are going. DO NOT travel to the north and north-east coasts of Thailand, there's political conflict between them and the surrounding countries, and there are Thai rebels. Central Thailand and anywhere in the south is safe, but as in any country u gotta watch yr back if yr a tourist.
Cost to get there will prolly be something close to $2000 but once u get there u can do some country hopping, like traintrips to malaysia. Ya i'm not gungho about thailand or anything... |

I think you should travel to this wonderfull city called Laval. We've got it all here, running water, electricity and recently got internet. We have some stores as well as some farms where we keep cows n shit. |

YaY Thailand! Send me an email if you do end up going. I'm not there yet, but from what I hear its inexpensive and has alot of interesting places, whether you'd rather just lie around on an island or trek to remote hill-tribes. I'm budgeting around 15-20$ per day while I'll be travelling there, which I here is reasonable.
As for something close to home, I really recommend a trip to the Andes in S.America, such as Ecuador-Peru-Bolivia. I did this trip last summer over 2 months, and had some of the most incredible experiences of my life. Its also safe, cheap (figure around 15$/day), and is really incredible: I trekked to Machu Picchu, went mountain climbing in Bolivia, and got to participate in an ayahuasca rite with Shuar in Ecuador! PM me if you want more info. |

Costa-Rica all the way.
Peaceful country, super beautiful nature... There are volcanos and farms and turkey vultures!!!!! :D People are nice too. Went there last year and I lived with a family in a small village. They were nice :) For the food, it's mostly rice, beans and chicken. Gallo pinto and arroz con pollo :P People aren't that rich, but they still have good life quality. Just be careful of the water, you need to boil it before ;) |
