| even though the record label's costs haven't rised, they're jacking up the price of music that can be purchsed off iTunes music store.. now to be $1.25USD per track, and up to $17USD per album..

makes you wonder what the insentive is to buy an album online when you can just get the CD for cheaper..

| yeah, and not having a hardcopy of the song.. ? |
|
Coolness: 72155
| when you buy hardcopy digital music (eg. CDs) you buy a package, yes. but the songs are just bits. so you might miss out on the packaging. but you still get the bits. |

| BS: How do you feel the internet affects hip-hop today?
Rza: It spreads it farther than other media. It may effect sales and decrease income, but on the other hand it exposes the music to a wider audience. Music is to be heard and enjoyed first and formost. The selling of it is secondary.
...
BS: You have your own label, how is the business aspect of the industry going for you?
Rza: The industry is rather sour at the moment, I'm looking into other outlets for my talent.

| people should not make money selling their music... people should make money performing in concerts... give away 5000 cd's and then have a concert and charge people 20$ to attend... you make money fast... |

| Read an open letter written to the "Metro" newspaper saying that the reason why kids download songs is because the companies sell their CDs too much. She claims that if the companies bring down their prices, kids will have tendancy to go out and buy the CD. But then of course, their is always the "2-3 good song on the cd" problem. |

People should start actually paying local artists more then... At parties, out of towners clean up.. local DJ's and musicians get paid shit all. I don't mind right now, since our act and all is still in progress, but when it gets to the point where we think we deserve more, we won't bother playing parties anymore and just do our own shows |

| nah nah nah.... me no liky that. I prefer money not doing anything to do with playing at a party or rave (is that what you're talking about, I'm quite tired)! |
|
Coolness: 2749635
| people would pay the local artist more if the local artist brough in more people to their parties... |

| Yup. It's all about the apeal more than anything. If people like you, they'll come see you. If you can draw a crowd, the party makes more money. If the party gets more money because of you, you get booked again... |

| Thog: local artists bring in local people, they also make up the largest percentage of acts at most parties. If it weren't for locals there would be 2 DJs playing at every party. If people only care about bringing in crowds and making more money they should just throw hip-hop RnB parties that bring in the lowest common denominator and the most cash.. |

| small bands touring make ZERO dollars from touring and you can never expect them to charge more than 5-10$
if anything they might get some extra money in their pockets from album/mechandising sales |
|
Coolness: 277155
| I thought they made money from touring and less from albums |
|
Coolness: 340385
| not local bands.. local bands do it for publicity.. big bands do it for the money. |

Coolness: 277155
