:) actually you said "yeah it's called not eating a balanced diet. many vegetarians just don't eat meat and don't substitute the staple with other foods that give you the same nutrients...
" i took offense to the "not eating a balanced diet" part...i agree with the second part but you can't state that being vegetarian automatically means not eating a balanced diet.. you're just teasing me now...hah....i dig it |

trust me....i'm fully aware of it. Giving up meat was no prob at all though, while quiting smoking is a bitch...and i've tried all sorts of ways. I'm gonna have to go hang out in the woods where cigs can't be found, although i may end up smoking branches or something...
Gave up pot for awhile, it wasn't that hard...now i just smoke wayyyyyy less of it. The funny thing is, while i admit that cigs are horrible (i am the first to admit that it's probably the worst drug on the planet because of the addiction level/cost/accessability) people who are pounding back meat still believe that it's fine, regardless of how much data shows what it can do to you. Personally, I'd worry about both...cigs and meat. Read "Mad Cowboy" to see what goes into commercial beef.... I don't believe it's coincidence that although the amount of smokers are decreasing, North Americans are extremely unhealthy....food plays a huge role. That and exercise. |

not all people eating meat "believe that it's fine". they just don't care.
i enjoy eating meat. and until they start putting tar, nicotine, arsenic and various carcinogenic chemicals into my steak, you cannot sit there and condemn meat and meat-eaters while you smoke a cigarette and not be hypocritical. it would be like a heroin junkie telling someone not to eat junk food because it's bad for them. |

hypocrisy:The practice of professing beliefs, feelings, or virtues that one does not hold or possess; falseness.
I say that non-organic meat is not the healthiest thing around....i don't eat it myself, therefor i'm not being hypocrytical. 1) me being a smoker and saying that eating meat can be unhealthy is not hypocritical.....me telling you that you're bad for smoking, while i'm smoking is hypocritical 2)You haven't shown that you know what is put in meat, how do you know it's not as bad as well? 3)and to Ian....Health issues related to food have now caught up to smoking...and is slowly overtaking them. I can state that smoking is bad, i can state that some vegetarians who don't eat the right foods are unhealthy, i've eaten meat and i've also not eaten meat. I can see both sides, i've read about both sides. I've not said that being veggie is the "blessed way of eating". All i've said is that it can be a healthy lifestyle and that more and more documentation shows that eating tons of non-organic meat can be harmful to your health. If you don't want to admit that to yourself, fine. It's not my health. And to end this, stress will kill you 10 times faster than smoking or meat slurpies for breakfast every day. I'm off to play some unhealthy video games... |

I never said there wasn't bad stuff in meat. I know full well about growth hormones and questionable feeding practices and all that stuff.
I simply don't care. I enjoy eating meat and there are a lot worse things I could be putting in my body. If I die at 72 years old after having a meat filled life, I'll be happy. |
