This is part one of what may go down as one of the hottest weeks in d&b (and breaks) this year...
[DRUM & BASS] Concord Dawn - Tonight (Pendulum RMX)/Apollo 13 on Function. Function turn a page in history and change the face of their label forever right here, not just the graphic design though....trust me. The boys who can do no wrong - Pendulum come correct with their hottest tune to date...remixing fellow down-under's Concord Dawn. If this tune doesn't make you dance you're legs must be broken. Flip for a standard Concord roller. Break - Positive-Negative/Hearing Voices on Commercial Suicide. I warned you this guy was on a roll! After ripping things up for East Side, No U-Turn and DNAudio, Break kicks it up a notch for Klute's label. Both sides demonstrate mad skills in the tech-step vein. Stay tuned for material from partner-in-crime Silent Witness. Future Prophecies - Warlords Rising (Chapter 1) on Subtitles. Ok so you've been waiting with baited breath for the LP and now it's here...well, part of it. 'Bring The Noise' destroys while 'Miniamba' rebuilds. All I gotta say is these guys know what they're doing, this record gives you their trademark hard-as-nails shit along with some warehouse-style funk to make it absolutely ESSENTIAL! Cyantific - Little Green Men/Quiet Star on Hospital. I love these guys, every record just keeps getting better. If you missed their last one (and i know alot of you did), I highly recommend you check this out. Sraight up amen freaky shit on the a-side is hot (built in rewinds!), but flip for the golden nugget of deep, moody, rolling funk. Fantastic. Artificial Intelligence - Rise & Shine/Nos - Chameleon (Stress Level & TC1 VIP) on Dispatch. Have you been wondering what happened to that whole disco d&b thing? Well I'll tell you: the shitty half left town and shot itself in the head 23 times. The good side came over to this label and set up camp. I didn't think this style could bring anything good to the table, but i wrong...DEAD WRONG. Flip for some neurofunk w/ a tramen. DJ Benjie - Power Pill/Ryme Tyme - Donkey Kong on Spawn. Ryme Tyme launches his brand new label so he can finally release TWO records a year. This guy is notorious for being the laziest mofo when it comes to getting the tunes out...but you can't deny quality when you hear it. 'Power Pill' has been on dubplate since you were jerking off to the sears catalog. This is the tune that samples Pac-Man and gets a little bit annoying after a while...the flip shows Ryme Tyme at his best though, funky bass and a tight drum kit make this 12 a nice addition to any collection. D Product & Surge - Bounce The Bass/Made The Switch on Full Cycle. More standard bouncy business from Bristol's finest. This time it's the engineers in control and ripping up the dancefloor. Get ready people cuz after this comes the 2 part 'Lyric On My Lip 2004' mixes....and you KNOW who's on that shit...right? Clipz - Cuban Links (Fresh RMX)/Cybin - Tripods on Emcee. Long-awaited remix by the man with the plan. Fresh from Bad Company take Clipz's biggest tune to date and manages to make it even bigger. Don't sleep. Kelis - Milkshake (Kiko RMX)/Beastie Boys - Hold It Now (SKC RMX). Yeah...we had this one last week....and yeah...we sold out of it pretty freakin' fast...so yeah...get your ass in here and don't miss it this time! [BREAKS] Influenza - Panic Room/Transformer Man RMX on Eletrofly. Stanton Warriors - Slanty/Jiggle Dat (Full Length Mix) on 679. Hyper VS General Midi - We've Been Waiting/Fretwell RMX on Kilowatt. Missy Elliot - BREAK THAT DUTCH. Limited edition one-sided bootleg. Factor E - SwingPunk/Aquasky VS Masterblaster RMX on LowPhat. Nectarios - Mmm/Pheonix (Vigi & Nectarios Mix) on StreetWise. DJ X vs DJ Fixx - More Science on Afterdark. features: Fixx & Renixx Original Mix and DJ X Chop Shop Remix. Globe + Swain - Found You/Moon Cat on Moving Target. J-Break - Scorpion on Deep Groove. features the Original Mix, Agent K & Deuce RMX, Kor-E & Quest Electro Mix. Oh yeah, we got the Donna Kebab in too.... See you soon... Hahaha! Pendulum is like the new Bad Company...only they have a waaaayy Techier edge and their sound is one of a kind (Concord Dawn has much influence on them), so comparing Hard DnB to IDM is pretty insulting...lol! |
